Ive had this projector for my living room for a few months now and I love this projector. For context, the living room isnt lightproof during the day but close to it at night. It sits on a coffee table thats roughly 7ft from my screen. Its nice having flexibility to move it back and forth because the zoom range is pretty wide. I thought the setup was very easy and painless. The quality has impressed me and the colors are beautiful. I would recommend adjusting the color based on expert recommendations; theres guides online for that. I think the projector is pretty bright even during the day. I will say that for gaming, it may not be the best. I found that many of the games I play are dark and that doesnt show up well on the projector unless its pretty light sealed in the room. My only complaint (and its not really a complaint for me) is that the fan noise is audible. But I dont think its loud enough that I even notice it most of the time. PS do yourself the favor of getting at least a decent screen. I was projecting onto a wall while I waited to get a screen and it made a huge difference.

Picture quality Pic quality is excellent on this projector. Color reproduction is perfect. Gaming also works well. I have not experienced any noticeable lag while playing. Waiting for my ps5 to see how the 4k looks

We have been using at-home projection TV for over 25 years, but we had never tried a BenQ. I thought of it as a step up, it cost twice as much as our next most spendy projector. I ordered it ahead instead of another bulb for our Epson, setup was easy and then stuff began to fail. We use a fancy Onkyo amplifier sound system which extracts the most from signals and sources. We enjoy hearing birds flock up in the ceiling / sky. But the Benq strips sound down. How do I know. Well when the BenQ bulb failed so early that I had not stocked a replacement, thinking that was a couple years in the future, I had closeted the old Epson projector and we have not yet agreed on another use, guests or grandkids, so I got it out and replaced the BenQ with the old one and wow it was brighter and the good sound came back. So, now we have new decisions to make, one is to stop believing Amazon ratings. Another, not to count bulb hours until they are achieved. Finally, a three year warranty is not worth anything if the phone number doesnt work.

When I first purchased this in March 2021 (not even a year old), my biggest complaint was that you can not resize the image to fit the screen I already had mounted. My Optoma projector which this replaced had that option. My real issue now is its not even a year old and I have a bright bad pixel already with only 764 hours on the lamp. It is very obvious in dark scenes. I looked at my Benq warranty and apparently I have to wait for more pixels to fail before they will do any warranty work. That is unacceptable for the price I paid for this $1999 (with the android option). I will never buy a Benq product again.

This projector is simply fantastic. The image, design and feature set (zoom, lens shift, no light border etc) make this guy a winner. 4K films are simply incredible, blacks are inky black thanks to its dynamic iris, and HDR support truly makes for an excellent viewing experience. Great value for the money. The only thing I dont like about this exceptional projector is the optical output is only stereo. Not sure what Benq was thinking when this decision was made. Its seems silly to design such a fantastic machine, then limit it to Stereo output via its toslink port. I had to purchase a sound extractor device to strip the 5.1 sound from HDMI, and then pipe the sound from the device to my surround system. This was an inconvenience, and unnecessary expense, when Benq could have simply incorporated 5.1 Surround out of the toslink port. Wishful thinking I know, but hopefully a future firmware release will turn on surround sound from the optical port. Hopefully it is a firmware limitation....albeit quite unlikely. That is the only fault I have with the projector. I hope this review helps anyone contemplating this projector.

I bought the ht3550 16 months ago. It has failed 4 times. Benq has sent me 3 of them and 1 was repaired. The DMD chip fails after 4 to 6 months. A white pixel will show up. Then before you know it , there are dozens. I returned the first one after 4 months because of big white spots. They sent a new one. 5 months later I sent it for repair. They sent a new one. 3 months later I sent it infor repair. Got a new one. Sent that in for repair and it was repaired. Customer service aint great so its a real pain. The last repair I asked for bulb replacement (4000 hours) and was told the bulb should last 20,000 hours. There is no way that it true. Its only 2000 lumens anyway. Turned out they were just out of stock on the bulbs. Thats a problem too. Customer service doesnt care about making things right so look at optoma or epson.

Amazing picture. Quality is amazing, sound from the fans are very low to unnoticeable. As they clearly state, mounting options are quite slim; especially horizontally. But if you are buying and using a 4k projector, you should know there is some difficulty getting the perfect mount positions. Resolution is so good I constantly notice how cheap my screen is..... =O

This Benq projector rocks! 3D is perfect - with a projection size of 120 inches is a total imersion - great experience - movies wich I found not so good now lock enhanced. I was wasting my time with a 3D TV a projector is the answer if you are a 3D enthusiast. 4K HDR with a dark room is fantastic - cinema at home! Although it is not meant for living room viewing I watched the Superbowl on it and even with some lights on it is perfect image. It has VIVID TV and BRIGHT mode to make it possible some living room experience. For me a perfect purchase.
