We had a prior model of BenQ 1080p and decided to upgrade to 4k version. They look almost identical to each other. However, the packed features of 4k are absolutely phenomenal including HDR features. We paired it up with our Sony 7.2 surround system and the final effect is amazing from picture quality and sound effects. Setting it up was a breeze! We have about 16 screen that BenQ casts about 15 out and the sharpness is incredible! Details are evident at 4k. If you have a chance to get this projector - there will be NO REGRETS! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! A+

I am a first time projector owner...all I can say is that I am amazed at how far along projectors have come. I’ll not a videophile but I know the different between 1080p and 4K and know enough about black levels and things like that to know when a picture is good and this unit has it all. My only complaint which is not really a defect is that I wish it was a little brighter. Again it’s not really an issue with the projector and they do offer another model that’s made for brighter rooms but I wanted this model since their higher lumen version will not match the color depth of this one. Overall i didn’t know what to expect when I got this but I love it. I have also tried the 3d but it’s just way too dark for my taste but my wife didn’t seem to care. Just my preference I guess. I may try using the BenQ glasses instead of the cheaper ones I bought on amazon to see if that helps but overall I wasn’t pleased. The images were very dark with a lot of ghosting in some scenes. Overall I highly recommend this projector for the price...you won’t be disappointed.

Ive been drooling over affordable 4k projectors since they first came out back in 2018 or thereabouts. First, was the Optoma UHD50, then the BenQ HT2550 and a Viewsonic and even an Acer. Yet, I didnt have the money at the time and these first-generation projectors used a DLP chip that left a lot to be desired. Come 2019, and the next wave of affordable 4k projectors came out. I embarked on more research and by the beginning of 2020, I decided to get the BenQ TK850. Why? I have a light-controlled but my screen is 180, so experts recommended to go for the TK850s extra brightness, with the trade-off of less-than-perfect colors. I bought the TK850 from another place since it was out of stock on Amazon. The unit came and it wow-ed me. It looked so vibrant and with so much detail! But once the excitement was gone, I noticed a lot of color inaccuracies and even some weird aberrations that distracted me. Nothing big, though. But, for the first time, I noticed the rainbow effect, and it drove me crazy! Sadly, I returned the TK850, and bought the HT3550, risking getting a dimmed image, as the experts said. After a couple of weeks of heavy watching, I can say that Im very happy with my purchase and that the HT3550s image is bright enough for my huge 180 screen. I upgraded from a BenQ HT2050, the 1080p version of this one, and the difference is night and day: From dark levels, to a gamut colors, and of course 4k detail. The HT3550 blew me away!

This review is for the “cinematic colors” model HT3550 This projector perfectly met my expectations (though it didn’t exceed them—IMHO that’s 4 stars) The picture quality is really very good for a projector at this price point. 4K projected pixels and color wheels designed for accuracy means you get a really good looking picture right out of the box. The brightness is fair but things definitely look best in a mostly dark room. It’s a top level consumer projector rather than an entry level prosumer projector: build quality is fine but underwhelming. Not the most light tight enclosure and the fan noise while acceptable is not whisper quiet. My single biggest disappointment, while not unexpected at this price point, is the chromatic aberration of the lens. High contrast edges (e.g. the white text when you pause a Netflix movie) have a blue/yellow shift, but frankly not noticeable at normal viewing distances. Was pleased to find replacement bulb prices are reasonable (in the neighborhood of $100) and as a home cinema solution I think it’s going to meet my needs really well for several years to come. If you’re looking at this review you probably already know this, but this is not for gaming or daytime sports. It’s best suited to a movie theater like environment and content.

So.. my Epson 5350 started having this screaming alarm when i would put in a new bulb.. decided to get a 4k.. first got the cheap epson (cant recall model but you cant get a good focus over the whole screen, sent it back) The Benq has a great picture... zero complaints.. Cept the fan is very loud.. 12-21-21 So.. i have a stuck pixel, luckily its near the edge on the right but its there and annoys me..i have tried Pixel fixers and they didnt help..This is easily the worst projector i have ever owned. I own 3 mitsubishis going back over 10 years and all 3 still work perfectly. BENQs picture quality doesnt matter if they make them loud and with dead pixels. I wish i had sent this back when i could have... DO NOT BUY ONE! So..

After a 45 min installation replacing my previous Epson, I struggled to get the picture formatted correctly only to eventually find out on Reddit that even though I have 16 my screen was too small for this projector as it does not have a digital shrink feature. Check your distance and screen size before ordering. I thought I did my homework as I looked at every projector I could find on the $1500-$2k range. That being said, once I moved it closer and remounted on the ceiling it works really well. The picture is so much better than my old one and switching between Bright during the day and Cinema mode at night gives me a great experience and a great picture anytime. While this is not true 4k most people will not know the difference and unless youre side by side, most likely cant tell.

The picture quality is outstanding, not just for the money but for any projector. In a dedicated room with a proper screen and light control it will rival anything you could see at your local digital theater. The colors are unbelievably vivid and the image is very sharp. There are several preconfigured modes, two of which are calibrated at the factory to meet 100% of Rec 709 and 96% of DCI P3. The only issue I had was that the HDR mode wasn’t calibrated at all and all the faces looked like something out Charlie and the Chocolate factory. Inspecting the color manager I found all the settings set to 200. I matched the color manager settings to the calibrated D. Cinema mode and it now has a more color accurate HDR image than my calibrated P Series Vizio LED TV. The bright HDR highlights of the projector can’t match the TV but in a light controlled theater room it looks amazing. Interstellar on UHD BD looks like looking through a window. The Dynamic Iris really brings out the details in dark HDR programs like Ozark in a way that I would say is almost equal to the local dimming of my LED TV. Now your experience will very greatly on your own setup. I have a dedicated room with .5 gain grey walls and ceiling and a 100” 1.0 gain grey screen. I sit about 9’ from the screen. I run it in Eco in all modes except HDR where it needs Normal to give full effect, and Smart Eco in Vivid which is bright enough for sports with the room lights at 20% This was a direct replacement for the HT2050 and it fit my setup without modification.

I cant believe home amazing this picture is. Combined with a 4k ultra hd bluray player with HDR10 and a 4k receiver the picture has vibrant colors and deep blacks. Even with regular bluray movies the picture is awesome, but nothing beats a 4k movie. Its always better to watch a movie in a dark room, but you can with alittle bit of ambient light coming in. I would much rather buy from Amazon, theyre return policy is much better than anyone else. I did have a hard time positioning the projector to the screen. Just remember the lense needs to be directly placed in the middle of the screen. I have a 120 inch screen and sit 20 feet away . its a perfect size for that distance. The projector comes calibrated already from BenQ which is nice. You can always play with the picture options to your liking. I had some video lag with the voice with the lamp set on eco mode and vivid mode. As soon as i set it back to D.Cinema and lamp at normal it went away . Google and forums on BenQ troubleshooting really helped me alot. For the money and the options you wont find a bettter picture . *****Update***** Ive had this projector now for 8 months and have had absolutely zero problems. I still love the picture it projects. Bluray movies looking amazing, but I only buy 4k movies.

This is my first projector and after looking at all of the different options, I figured this was the one to go with. Its been said that this projector resolved lot of the first generation projector problems so not having to deal with some of those quirks is always a positive. In any case, this projector was MUCH better than I had expected. Im just projecting on a wall and it looked so good that Im debating to whether to even a buy screen for it or not! Eventually ill get the screen but its not by any means an urgent need for me. I honestly cant tell whether im watching a TV or projector. Of course the room does need to be dark (some light is still acceptable) but if you have good amount of ambient light then the picture will look washed out. Things i dont like: 1) Optical output is only outputting stereo sound. Not sure WTF BenQ was thinking here. I ended up buying a new receiver due to this. This was major let down for me and almost wanted to return this projector. But my old receiver was in need of update anyways so decided to fork the extra money for a new receiver. 2) Fan noise (when I had it on a table this was a bit loud but ever since mounting it on a wall, Ive noticed that its quieter than before). 3) Mounting - For some stupid reason, BenQ decided to not have a flat surface for the mount side so one of the screws is right next to the raised body. You can probably see it in the pics. In the end it still worked fine but for a company whos in this business for a while would have given some thought about this and made sure that the mounting side is completely flat. I used the Mount-It mount as it allowed for extension to drop the projector height. Things I LOVE: 1) Picture quality - Hands down just amazing out of the box and Ive only just watched 1080p content so far! Planning to connect 4k firestick this weekend to get an idea of how great this projector really is. 2) Has USB power port (2.5A at that) so that I can just power the firestick off that port. Works perfectly! I really havent played around with the different settings on the projector and frankly im afraid to just because its puts out damn good image right now. Make sure to measure the distance from the lens to the wall and also the height of the projector. I think BenQ has a good calculator for this but again difficult to use. However, the best way is to just use a ladder and put the projector on it to see how the image would look. I just zoomed out the image completely and made sure that I was satisfied with the minimum image size it projected. After that I just found a good mounting spot for the projector mount between 1 to 2 feet after that spot so that I can then zoom in to get image size I wanted on the wall. Id say go for it if youre debating to whether to get this as your first projector or not. I dont think Id ever consider buying large TVs if a projector in that setting could also work.
