Have several different fire starters, this is by far the best. With the right striker it puts out gobs of molten metal/sparks. Even my 11 yo grandson is able to get large consistent sparks. The only issue I had was with the really crappy striker, but using the tool steel striker i made takes care of that problem. Will be buying a few more in the future. Highly recommendec!

I have used this sort of thing in the past, and when I ordered this one I went all out for 8 inches of sparks and got what I expected a huge shower of sparks for starting fires

Was a gift for someone else

I received my Massiv Fire Starter a couple weeks ago and have used it several times. First impression is that this thing really is massive. I’ve never owned such a large fire starter. I’ve used it about a half dozen times now and it has not let me down. I also have the Überleben Zünden that I absolutely love and led me to try this one. The guys and girls down at Modern Outdoor Life are well on their way to providing old school tools with modern flair. What can I say? She makes fire! The sparks are large and long lasting.

The extra length of the rod helps with generating consistent sparks into the tinder without knocking over your pile. Highly recommend.
