This rod is great; gives lots of hot sparks that stick around for a while. Id say the metal is on the softer side, which I personally prefer, because it makes it easier to get a fire going. (Im in Oregon where its always raining, so skimping on sparks is a recipe for a cold night...) I like to save money and cut weight were I can, so I went with the 5 one. 8 seems like overkill on a rod that, lets face it, is already a little bit overkill. (Though, if Im being honest, part of me still wants to buy the 8 one. Size matters, right?) Overall, very happy with the purchase. überleben is doing it right!

Works Great

If you have trouble holding on to or gripping smaller objects then this is what you need. My hands and fingers cramp up easily when I try to grab smaller objects. But this ferro rod is easy to grasp, hold on to and use. You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend it!

A lot of spark

This ferro stick is HUUUUGE and works VERY well! I am ecstatic about the quality! I will have fire for quite a while! This is a must for camping or hiking, but can be used everyday! I will probably be able to make a thousand fires with this!

Great product. Good length for getting larger spark clusters. Totally worth it. 8” would be cool to, but a typical stroke from me probably wouldn’t use the whole length and I’m 6’2” with XL hands.
