> 24 hourI thought broken... Touch didnt work. Tapping on it did. Bought second unit because first unit is working well and wanted another in another area. The con is the cost. There is not much to the design, while similar designs are running 1/3 the price. Only feature that those dont offer is the sensor in the same size package or the filters are higher costing. I got the 2nd one 30% off, and even then it was still at 2x the price. Its rather simple, a 3 speed fan that would be used for computer cooling (which should be a brushless type motor fan), a tap sensor switch and a sensor for monitoring the particulate level. The low auto setting allowing it to save energy based on particulate level is a plus tho. I love to buy the bigger one, but its about 200 dollars and the filters are also expensive. I think I could build it cheaper with a small speed control box fan, and filters. I suppose I am paying for the automagic sensor design. Being so sensitive to house dust, I can easily feel the difference when running it just an half hour in a 450 square feet room.

> 24 hourI bought this air purifier before taking on a home remodel/addition project in anticipation of increased dust. In addition, I have cats and dogs in the house so figured it would be useful in general. After some thorough research on purifiers, I went with Blueair and am happy I did! I love the auto feature, and just leave mine on auto all the time - its quite interesting to see what causes it to kick into med/high (like any time I use my gas stovetop - something I didnt previously realize was harming my air quality). Ive been impressed with its sensor, as any time the construction crew is sanding/working with drywall/insulation/etc, it kicks into high gear so I do trust that its doing a good job of monitoring. Its quiet, I really dont notice it on a regular basis, its a little on the large size but looks fairly nice so not a big deal to have in the main living areas. I like the color filter options, theres a noticeable dust buildup on both filters so its clearly picking up things. And generally Im quite happy with it! Note on odor elimination - the amount of carbon in the carbon filters really is not enough to do much of anything for odors. I dont see this as the intent of having the air purifier though, so ok with this. But dont expect everything to smell better. Cooking smells, etc. all still hang around - I have not noticed any difference in this.

> 24 hourI bought the 311 auto after much research and no regrets! Have already noticed a difference in my allergies in a few days of use. Going to buy another unit for the guest bedroom.

> 24 hourProduct looks good and works nicely and has a light that tells you moderate and good air levels but its very difficult to register. You need to provide serial number. i looked everywhere on the product, on the accompanying paper work, on my invoice and there is no serial number. Threw the box out but I dont think it was on it. So how does one register? Online there is an i next to serial number but no it doesnt work. You search on Blue air website, and there is not information. You call and you sit there and listen to long wait times and listen to music. So why drive th customer Crazy for such simple thing?

> 24 hourUPDATE: I put this air purifier in the garage, and it is noticeably reducing the musty smell, so I am happy to have it, even though I found it unusable within the house. Earlier review: I used my BLUEAIR 311 in a 9x11 bedroom for four nights and awoke with progressively worse headaches each morning, until I realized it must be the air purifier and turned if off. No more headaches. So, I moved it to my family room, thinking it was better suited to a larger room. I dont spend much time in that room, but there is airflow to the rest of the house. A couple weeks later, I wondered if the eye redness and itchiness I was experiencing could be due to the air filter. Turned it off. No more eye redness and irritation. BTW, I dont have allergies. I bought this for house guests who are allergic to my cats, but thought Id try it in my own room. This was an expensive machine that I cant even donate or give away in good conscience, knowing the health effects it could have.

> 24 hourIt works great! I can tell the difference in the air quality since I bought this unit (311 auto). But, if you run it on anything other than the lowest setting it is way too loud. I have it in the living room and I can live with the noise level of the lowest setting. But the next level is too loud for me. The bigger the unit the more air volume it can filter. So, if you plan on running it on the lowest setting due to noise, I would get the biggest unit offered. I think in my case, it would be cool to have the unit be programmable so that I could set it to change to the higher fan speed at night or when Im not home. Im sure they would charge an extra $100 for that convenience.

> 24 hourThe one I have in my bedroom worked so well I brought another one for the living room. I did not believe this would work until I had to change the filter which was black when I went to change it. The only question I have is why does the top start to to have discoloration? It was white but now starting to turn a smoky color?

> 24 hourI share an office with a smoker and was often hit by the smell of stale smoke when I walked in. The office itself also began to smell like smoke. I bought this filter for its size and look that blends in with the other furniture. I can still smell stale smoke when I pass my coworkers desk, but the smell no longer reaches my desk and the office is back to smelling like nothing!

> 24 hourI bought this in preparation for California wild fire season. Its not a matter of if, sadly it is just down to when it will go down. So I wanted to get ahead of ut and be as prepared as possible. I got my first test to see if this machine could effectively remove smoke and clean the air of a ~2,000 sg. ft. home. Let me tell you, it was a small local fire that honestly I hadnt realized was happening and after a minute or so I looked and realized the purifier had kicked on (it is quiet and blends in like a nice white noise) when I saw the light had changed colors to red. I asked my husband what the red light meant and we the realized it smelled like smoke outside. We closed all the windows, and withing 3-5 minutes the living room (where we were sitting and our largest open room) no longer smelled like smoke. After maybe 10 minutes I went to the other side of the house to our spare bedroom where we had windows open and it too was free and clear of smoke smell. This is a game changer for us. We had friends who bought another device (its square and a different brand) that I had been looking at buying. I landed on Blueair after reading reviews, doing my due diligence, and determining the square footage it was supposed to work best with suited my housing better. Weve already started talking about getting a smaller unit for our bedroom, mostly because we have a gassy cat that will clear a room when we are trying to sleep. Its actually kind of brutal and amazing on what a small cat can produce.

> 24 hourThe unit blueair 311 seems to be working well. However I had to contact the Blueair customer support because getting pre-filter replacements is next to impossible. I was told things that were not true by their customer service representative. Told the blue 311 and 311 auto are the exact same size and so are the filters. That is NOT the case. Trying to get exact information was a game of half answers. I am not sure if these models are being discontinued in favor of the newer hi tec ones but trying to find filters and covers is nearly impossible. (They are the first step in the filtration process) I could not find them available even on the Blueair page. Representative said they were out of stock to try again in 2 weeks how do you not carry these for your customers? No covers for either model? I am now concerned about my purchase from them.
