> 24 hourAfter owning a large, classic Blueair unit for over 15 years, we finally retired it in favor of these smaller models. Our first purchase was a 411+ for the bedroom. We love everything about it. It works like a charm for dust, pet odors, and even pet hair. The unit is easy to move when needed and the filters are easy to change. Our only complaint with the 411+ is the pre-filter. It is a thin, nylon material that snags easily, and were not wild about the loud colors. However, replacement pre-filters are inexpensive. We were so impressed with the 411+ that we ordered a 311 Auto for the living room. We expected that it would be a larger version of the 411. It isnt. The two models look similar but are designed very differently. It works equally well, and the pre-filter is sturdier and more attractive, but thats where the advantages stop. The 411 has a hard-sided canister that the filter slips inside. This is what makes it easy to handle and move. The 311 does NOT have an outside canister. A loose, pleated filter that makes up the exterior of the bottom half of the unit. These filters are harder to install. Also, to remove or replace the washable pre-filter, you have to handle the dusty main filter quite a lot. The exterior filter design also makes the unit more fragile; filters can get smashed if the unit is bumped into or knocked over. Its tricky to get the pre-filter to fit just right without mashing the main filter, and one of our cats is determined to sharpen claws on the soft exterior of the unit. (He ignores the 411.) Because the 311 Auto is more fragile and less manageable than the 411+, Ive given it 4 stars. The 411+ is a 5-star unit, and if I had it to do over again I might place two of those at opposite ends of the living room, instead of using the larger unit.

> 24 hourI share an office with a smoker and was often hit by the smell of stale smoke when I walked in. The office itself also began to smell like smoke. I bought this filter for its size and look that blends in with the other furniture. I can still smell stale smoke when I pass my coworkers desk, but the smell no longer reaches my desk and the office is back to smelling like nothing!

> 24 hourHave a small 45 year old 1200 ft cabin in the woods and shopped for air purifier that would work with seasonal pollen, cat hair/dander from two cats( and litter pan odor), woodstove smoke/ash, occasional kitchen cooking pollution. Lots of claims out there in wide range of prices...this one,far from cheapest, or priciest, seemed to offer quality needed to address enviromental indoor air polution. Liked 2 phased filtration, charcoal for odors, and that filters lasted 6 mo rather than 1. Located in sleeping area, quiet operation a plus. Have had unit for 6 months now, and just replaced filter, which was autoshipped from mfg,as i did not trust the cheaper knockoffs that would fit,but questioned getting same results. Set filter replacement auto ship, was favorably impressed to speak with rep in understandable english without waiting on perpetual hold, and registered warranty at that time. First time i fried bacon, smoke carried into living area and demonstrated the sensor/detector in action, works as advertised. This unit has meaningfully enhanced indoor air quality in times of ever increasing pollution, providing better quality of life/living... highly recommend.

> 24 hourI bought the 311 auto after much research and no regrets! Have already noticed a difference in my allergies in a few days of use. Going to buy another unit for the guest bedroom.

> 24 hourIf Apple was to make an air filter, this would be it. Nice looking, simple to use, quiet, and effective. The fan speed is regulated by a sensor that looks for particles in the air. It is amazingly sensitive and ramps up when it sees dust, and even cooking odors. I wish I had bought two when I got this on sale.

> 24 hourI was concerned when I bought these, some negative reviews about odor, too bright of lights, and loud fan noise. I tried them and am very pleased. No odor other than clean fresh air. Lights are not a bother at night and on low the fan can hardly be heard. On high it is louder but dont run it on high very long. I was also pleased with the automatic function. While cooking I took the lid off of a skillet and almost immediately the unit across the room kicked onto high. The other unit in the bedroom also kicked on high. They both ran on high for about 10 minutes, cleared the air, and back down to low. Breathing much better.

> 24 hourHad a laptop overheat and it was full of cat hair, so decided dusting alone was insufficient. Got the Blueair Pure 411 because it looked like it: would wrangle excess fur balls, quietly disappear into the background, and is “set it and forget it” automatic. It’s been deployed for duty in my living room/home-office for two months now and mostly forgotten about it. It looks “nice”, perhaps a bit larger than I was expecting, but don’t feel like I need to hide it. Most of the time can’t even hear it from ~2 meters away. Surprisingly, it doesn’t kick on when the robot vacuum is running. Guess the vacuum’s filter is just that good. It does go into overdrive whenever I make popcorn. This is loud enough that I give it a few taps to force it to silent mode. If you subscribe to new air filters through Blueair (sent periodically every X months) there’s a discount over buying them individually on Amazon. So, take that into consideration if looking at the total cost of ownership.
