> 24 hourWith this carrier you can use Rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydride, and Nickel Cadmium cells in your UV5R series radio including the BF-F8HP. With the dummy cell (Yes, it is included) you can also use 1.5V lithium, Alkaline, or even Zinc Carbon cells. You will not be able to use Nickel Zinc as the voltage is still too high with the dummy. There is a short circuit hazard with the middle column of cells. This hazard is easy to avoid, simply make sure that you install the center column of cells first. With this in mind, if you do bend the contact to the point that it briefly makes contact with the one it isnt supposed to, you have no short circuit to complete.

> 24 hourThe originally battery might last a day on the trails, but if I was out there for more than that, I had no way to charge up the battery. This battery has gotten me through a whole weekend, AND with the usb charging cable, I can charge while Im on the trial if I need to! No more worrying about the radio anymore!

> 24 hourThis did not work initially. There is not info on which position should contain the dummy battery. I guessed it did not matter and that was true. One of the contact points for the battery was bent out of position, so the unit did not work. When I figured it out and bent it back, everything worked. It appears to be made of cheap plastic. Not sure how long it will hold up.

> 24 hourI will install on Baofeng Radios on 3 day adventures. These batteries extend the battery life to about 30-35 ish hours.

> 24 hourI have this as the upgrade over the stock battery for the BF-F8HP. The stock only lasted me a couple hours, while this battery has lasted me for two days of continued use. Would highly recommend getting a charger, as the external charging while using is a great boon

> 24 hourThe description is incorrect when stating the port on the side is a 2.5 barrel plug. I purchased a USB-C to 2.5 barrel plug adapter as the BTECH mentioned to purchase gets so hot that it melts the plastic housing around and the motherboard. So when finding an alternative the stated 2.5 was too large. Though when I purchased a USB-C to 1.7 barrel plug it fit, but did not charge the battery which confused me further. I have on solution, but thought this info was important.

> 24 hourBought a cheaper TENQ one and had to return it. It did not provide enough power on transmit and the radio would turn off and back on when key was released.(7.4V or so idle) This is the one by Baofeng and is designed differently. The pcb is in the DC jack portion not the battery adapter portion. It provides 8.5V which is clearly what the radio needs. The batteries and this unit state 7.4V but they all put out about 8.5V. I will be replacing the coiled cord which I really dislike and putting in a long straight cord. I have included a collage of a tear down of this unit which will hopefully be of some use. UPDATE: 2/19/15 The radio began rebooting on tx on 2m. There was a rattling sound from the plug. I opened it to find a large diode loose. It was either very cold solder joints or the part got hot enough to desolder itself from the pcb. I was able to fix it easily but def not worth the orig 4 star review I gave it. If I can find a way to add or update the pics I will add photo of the issue.

> 24 hourI have an older Bao Feng UV-5R. The battery would not fit. The battery would not fully engage when insertion into the radio was attempted. I had to remove, with a Dremel tool, a portion of the case. It for, lack of a better description, the portion within a half ellipse area on the front of the case. After grinding this area away. the fit was good. The battery takes a charge well and holds the charge well. All in all , good battery. Would buy again.

> 24 hourThis fit my TIDRADIO UV5R perfectly. I have just used it on a sled dog race, working on the trail crew. I turned it on at 10:00AM Thursday and found it dead the same time on Saturday. I made 6 short transmissions with the radio located in mid-layer clothing to protect it from the single digit to mid twenties temperatures. It was on and monitoring the whole time. The last transmission I had to change out the battery pack. This is not a critical review as I wanted to see what I could expect from the battery pack.

> 24 hourThe battery is actually nice how it lengthens the area you can grip the radio. for others that and I will be easier to use if you have bigger hands. battery has lasted me more than a day for non-business use. however, i find the hard plastic isnt as thick as some of the other batteries i encountered so i would advise to use in high impact or heavy work areas where you know there is higher risk of damaging it. it is durable though just not construction site worthy.
