Cant complain about the price, i will see how it works, i will say its a bad fit in the required charger, the battery is about 1/4 inch too thin to make good contact with the charger terminals, i had to fold up cardboard and put in front of the battery to make contact with the charging terminals. It would be a good idea to make the battery thicker so it can be charged in the required charger or provide a shim to place in the charger to make positive contact with charging terminals.

Ham radio operators are always looking for top notched equipment and the BaoFeng is at the top of the list. Great hand held for beginners in getting their feet wet in the wonderful world of amateur radio.

I plan on using the rechargeable battery that comes with the radio most of the time. But I like the idea of having back up power just in case. The first thing I did when the AA battery adapter pack arrived was try it out to make sure it works as promised, and it did. The nice thing about AA batteries is that they are widely available. Where as the proprietary battery that comes with radio has a limited life span. Also like the fact that the AA pack can use either alkaline or nickel metal hydride batteries, and come with provisions that allow you to use either voltage type battery.

Only extended battery for the small baofeng radio, so it is worth buying if you want longer battery life. This looks, fits, and performs perfectly on my little radio. Lasts a good long time too, but i have not timed it. If you want more radio time, you need this battery

The battery is actually nice how it lengthens the area you can grip the radio. for others that and I will be easier to use if you have bigger hands. battery has lasted me more than a day for non-business use. however, i find the hard plastic isnt as thick as some of the other batteries i encountered so i would advise to use in high impact or heavy work areas where you know there is higher risk of damaging it. it is durable though just not construction site worthy.

The originally battery might last a day on the trails, but if I was out there for more than that, I had no way to charge up the battery. This battery has gotten me through a whole weekend, AND with the usb charging cable, I can charge while Im on the trial if I need to! No more worrying about the radio anymore!

Over time, the cable has a tendency to pull out of the housings. I put a small zip-tie around both ends where they go into a bushing type thing. But as far as providing power to a Baofeng (or similar) from a cigarette lighter fitting on a car: It does the job well.

I am not sure if this battery is supposed to have a rubber plug/grommet for the hole in which you would plug the charging cable, when not in use.....but it did not come with one. Since these radios are usually used in outdoor and often rugged environments, it seems that protection from the elements would have been a consideration. I really wanted to give this product a great review, but because of the either missing or not previously thought of rubber plug for the charging port, I just can’t.

This is an excellent addition to your Baofeng radio. It truly does extend your talk time exponentially. I like that I can charge it by USB Cable, or charging dock (reason for that is because when you have multiple of these batteries for doing ARES stuff you want plenty of batteries, and you may need to charge more than one at a time). My one suggestion for an upgrade would be to add a tethered plug of some kind, for plugging up the USB charging hole on the side. The reason a plug would be a good upgrade is two fold: 1. if youre outdoors in a dusty or dirty environment, dust, dirt, and other debris can get trapped in the charging hole rendering it useless. 2. if youre outdoors and its raining very lightly or misting, that moisture can get trapped in the charging hole which in turn could lead to corrosion or a shorted out battery (and possibly radio too if the short is strong enough). Other than that suggestion for an upgrade, I would say this is a solid battery to add to your setup. I very much like them.

This is a key component of my poor mans mobile. Im posting this same review for all the other accessories of the build, but not for the radio which I love and reviewed separately. Heres the build:

BaoFeng BF-F8HP, BF-F8+ and UV-5R Series Battery Eliminator with DC Adapter.

This is the genuine eliminator with the full heavy duty cable and correct voltage transformer. Counterfeit eliminators send direct voltage which may damage your radio and will not let it function properly. Including: circuit damage and not allowing the radio to transmit while under high power, unregulated voltage

This is the battery eliminator for the BaoFeng BF-F8HP, UV-5X3, and UV-5R series radios. To use the eliminator simply clip it to the back of the radio in place of the battery, then plug the cable into a cigarette lighter or accessory socket (12V only).

This allows your radio to run off the vehicle or selected 12V source. The eliminator supplies power to the radio directly from car.

Technical Specs:
Over Current Protection Input : DC 12-24V
Output MAX :7.8V 3A

What"s Included:
++ Battery Eliminator for BaoFeng BF-F8 and UV-5R Series Radios

It works on:
UV-5X3
BF-F8HP
All UV-5R Series Radios (every model UV-5RA, UV-5RB, UV-5Rv2+, UV-5RS - etc)
