> 3 dayI got a project kit that required quite a bit of soldering so I wanted to get something a step up from the basic soldering pen that plugs directly into the outlet. I was looking at the bargain models and some of the reviews had me questioning them. The Weller model was the next level up and seemed decent enough. I saw some battery powered ones and was reading reviews of those on eham.net which I hadnt thought of checking out but is a perfect place for reviews of this type of equipment. They had negative reviews of the handheld ones I was looking at, but there also was this Hakko brand I was not familiar with. So I went back and searched for Hakko soldering irons and this station came up with great reviews. It turned out it was also reccomended on a youtube electrical engineering blog I follow in their video covering some basic equipment for beginners. I have also seen dissections of the components and Hakko is top notch. Some of the cheaper knock offs are poorly made inside and out with parts that look re-purposed or old. Blah blah blah, thats the story on how I found this soldering station. Now I will just list what I like about it: -Very well built inside and out. Nice heavy base for its size. -Great design with small footprint -Comes with both the sponge and cleaning wire (and the cleaning wire works amazingly) -Digital readout lets you know the temperature and you can see it as it warms up -Comes with a small chisel tip which worked out fine (Other brands often come with a conical tip) -This particular bundle comes with a nice cutter -The pen has a comfortable grip

> 3 dayAn outstanding piece of equipment with precise controls and I do not have to worry about some no name brand of junk shorting out and causing a fire on my work bench. Shipping was fast and it is exactly as described. The digital input has a short learning curve but works fine. Tips are pricey. You pay more for quality. Always have. Always will.

> 3 daySwitched to this iron after having issues with 2 different Weller irons. Have had zero issues, it heats very fast and holds temp perfectly. The user interface is not an issue for me, and I do use the presets quite often. Highly recommend this iron.

> 3 dayThis is an excellent soldering station. Very easy to use and heavy enough to be stable on the bench. The digital temperature control works well. There are many tips available, but nowhere in the manual does it provide instructions on how to change the tips. I know it is not difficult to do, but the instructions on how to do it should be provided. An added bonus was the inclusion of a free CHP 170 micro cutter with my order. These cost $7.49 by themselves. I mainly use my station to solder Litz tonearm cables which are very thin, 33AWG, and this unit does it with ease, at 800 degrees F, using silver solder. Highly recommended.

> 3 dayGreat price point! I use this about 4 or 5 times a day in my workshop! Very compact not taking up to much room on my work bench! I would recommend to anyone!

> 3 dayThis is an amazing soldering station. For years I have used Radio Shack irons, I struggled with the benefit of a higher end unit. I was on the fence for quite some time, but now, I will not look back. Moving up to one of these was absolutely one of the best things I have done, and one of the best tool purchases for my Radio Control hobby. It reaches temp FAST, about 20 seconds to 899 degrees! And it applies the heat so fast, you really can do a lot more work without damaging boards. Soldering bigger battery wires to XT90 connectors, I LOVE to do it know. I look forward to being able to fire this thing up, if your contemplating getting one and upgrading yourself, stop, click order now, and enjoy.

> 3 dayThis is a great soldering iron for the money. The free flush-cut tool is high quality and makes the deal even more desirable. Plenty of power for nearly all hobbyist needs. I got it from Kimco for $96, they are recommended.

> 3 daySoldering irons are a prime example of one of those items that is worth a little bit extra for the ease and convenience. Having used many brands throughout my solder years, Ive not found a single competitor to Hakkos line up. The versions above this are far beyond my price range. But for a hundred bucks, you will not find a better station for your needs.
