> 3 dayThis comes with a chisel tip which is perfect for the through hole soldering I need to do occasionally. When I turn it on its at temperature in less than a minute. The separate holder is solid and very handy, with a sponge as well as a spongy metal scraper. Heat transfers to the metal and solder quickly. Just wish Id invested in a professional digital iron long ago after putting up with a cheap fixed temperature stick for so long. Its worth the expense! Dont buy cheap tools!

> 3 dayI am very pleased with this purchase, smooth and seemless transaction. The soldering station not only looks good but the pre-sets are a very valuable feature. Nice form factor. Tool heats up very rapidly.

> 3 dayGreat product, period. however you need to familiarize yourself with the temperature settings, change to degrees and presets, takes some getting used to. no versatility like knobs, instead of just 2 buttons they should have added a knob with a built in push button and yet still have it as digital. but still it serves its purpose well, heats up in a fraction. use sal ammoniac to keep the tip de-oxidized and get a slightly larger wedge tip, stock one is a little small but usable.

> 3 dayThis is a great soldering iron for the money. The free flush-cut tool is high quality and makes the deal even more desirable. Plenty of power for nearly all hobbyist needs. I got it from Kimco for $96, they are recommended.

> 3 daySwitched to this iron after having issues with 2 different Weller irons. Have had zero issues, it heats very fast and holds temp perfectly. The user interface is not an issue for me, and I do use the presets quite often. Highly recommend this iron.

> 3 dayI love this thing! I use this mostly for RC related stuff and my solder joints never looked so good. I should have bought one a long time ago. It really makes soldering fun and easy compared to those cheap soldering irons.

> 3 dayAfter using a single temp soldering iron for many years I decided to upgrade to a soldering station. I read hundreads of reviews on Amazon and elsewhere and finally decided on the Hakko FX888D. It arrived quickly and was put into service the next day. Other reviewers commented on difficulty setting temp... My guess is they did not bother reading the included instructions. Temp setting is straightforward, sure it would be convient to have a down button, but seriously, how long does it really take to hit a button 9 times to go down one place. Less than a few seconds.

Greater than one weekUsed it the first time last night to do a couple simple tasks. Im very impressed. It came up to temperature in about 10 seconds. Its so very light and comfortable to hold. My results were excellent. The small chisel tip that comes with the iron seems useful for many tasks. I see no need to buy other tips if you are using this for small wiring and component tasks. I confess I didnt read the manual. I just plugged it all up and started work. Its very simple to set up and operate. And here is a really nice feature that makes operation easier: the cord running between the iron and the controller has silicone rubber (or similar) insulation, making for a very soft and flexible cable. My older soldering iron had a cord with plastic insulation that was stiff and tended to kink. this is a big improvement. I dont think most folks will find much to dislike about this iron.
