Really big fan. Fast temp changes and solid control. Use it for PCBs, large capacitors (used in speaker crossovers) and speaker wires, handles everything with no issues so far.

If youre a newbie to electronics save yourself a lot of grief and frustration and spend the dollars for this ultra killer soldering station. After suffering through a few cheap irons I broke down and got this unit - and Ill never regret it! Keep your sanity and get this unit.

Used it the first time last night to do a couple simple tasks. Im very impressed. It came up to temperature in about 10 seconds. Its so very light and comfortable to hold. My results were excellent. The small chisel tip that comes with the iron seems useful for many tasks. I see no need to buy other tips if you are using this for small wiring and component tasks. I confess I didnt read the manual. I just plugged it all up and started work. Its very simple to set up and operate. And here is a really nice feature that makes operation easier: the cord running between the iron and the controller has silicone rubber (or similar) insulation, making for a very soft and flexible cable. My older soldering iron had a cord with plastic insulation that was stiff and tended to kink. this is a big improvement. I dont think most folks will find much to dislike about this iron.

Heats up in under 30 seconds, high quality, works amazingly. Cord doesnt get twisted up and annoying like lesser irons. Tip is perfect size/shape for circuit work. Even the sponge is quality. Would buy again.

Easy to use..

I love this thing! I use this mostly for RC related stuff and my solder joints never looked so good. I should have bought one a long time ago. It really makes soldering fun and easy compared to those cheap soldering irons.

...after 15 years. I decided to go with something better and chose this unit. Wow, night and day. I no longer dread getting products in kit form. The unit heats quickly, holds a steady temp, and has an excellent sponge. I used T18-D08 tips for some fine soldering work and the combo worked very well..

Heats up quickly and appears to hold the setting very accurately. Helps to produce clean, shiny solder joints.
