> 3 dayas the complaints in reviews mostly revolved around 1) does not hold pressure and... 2) poor customer service. I got the unit, plugged it in, got to 120 psi, stopped, unplugged 1) 2 hrs later lost about 30 psi 2) called customer service, got the biggest run around I ever experienced, it was borderline comical. could not get the simplest questions answered. What is acceptable amount of air loss over 2 hrs, 24hrs, etc. Asked 5x in email, they refuse to answer. I guess Amazon reviews are true. Its too bad the company does not step up QC and act normal during customer service inquiries as its USA company and seems to be a decent compressor. I always try to support small USA companies, but with attitude like that, well.... I either gotta fix this one, or salvage the box and send it back. I hate buying something brand new and having to fix it... this is simple to detect in QC....

> 3 dayI have 2 smaller California Air units and was very happy with their performance. And extra happy with their quiet operation which was a priority. For this location I need more air capacity and went with the 8010A unit. Just as quiet. Also happy that I went with the aluminum version. The first time I used it was with my impact tool to take off some stuborn lug nuts. It is not Factory Air but good for what I am doing. I love California Air. I have always changed out the Quick Disconnect on the regulator. I just pefer a different version. Be careful not to overtighten any new nipples at the regulator. it is plastic and it will split.

> 3 dayWorks well for filling tires and blowing away air. Dont expect to run any air tools with this. The tank is much too small.

> 3 dayDon’t believe any reviews to the contrary, this is as quiet, or quieter, than advertised. I needed something I could run in the house without damaging my children’s hearing and this fits the bill. It’s orders of magnitude quieter than the 6 gallon porter cable I used to use. The only down sides are the aluminum tank, while lighter than the steel porter cable, is not as light as hoped. Also, the handle for pulling it on the wheels is to short to be almost useless for someone who is 5’10” tall. Also, they say it’s made in San Diego California, but the box says made in China. Not good.

Greater than one weekReplaced a same-size/psi compressor that cost half as much but was so much louder I could stand to use it with my garage door closed (or without hearing protection). This one is sooo quiet that you really can stand right next to it and have a conversation at normal speaking volume. SAVE YOUR EARS!

> 3 dayMy wife and I are renovating a mid-1960s house, ultimately planning to live here full-time. My 27gal compressor back home was sorta-portable (wheels & stood vertically) but not easily transportable between the two houses. While researching for a small, quiet compressor for the reno my original compressor violently self-destructed. (:- Portability became much more important. The 8010 is small enough and light enough to strong-arm into a car trunk. Tank capacity is completely adequate for my needs (air gun, light sandblasting, minor cut-off work.) At this level its ideal. BUT--I also needed a relatively-quiet unit. My original was not, and as my wife has offices at both locations Im particularly careful about how much noise I generate. This California Air Tools compressor is billed as ultra-quiet, and thats an excellent description. This is easily the quietest compressor Ive every used, and that includes the little carry-along tire compressors one carries in a car trunk. I have a cousin who has a home-shop in which she makes things for her business. I learned they needed a compressor for some airbrushing they need to do. As noise in her shop is also a big consideration, I was able to recommend this compressor without reservation. Id buy it again, for sure. And yes, I did buy it. I have never accepted compensation for anything I review.
