Greater than one weekSeemed like a great product. Arrived intact, assembled it, and powered it up. Flicked the switch and the first thought was WOW! This thing is amazingly quiet!. I decided to shut it down before fully charging it, and immediately noticed it was leaking - like leaking so badly that the hissing sound coming from it was as loud as it was when it was running. Clearly they dont test these after assembly, because this unit would have been obviously faulty. So... go to Amazon to start trying to get help. They direct me to CAT for support. CAT support offers to let me troubleshoot the compressor, and they will send me replacement parts. For me, that is extremely lame. They want ME to troubleshoot their crap product - for no pay? I dont work for them. They dont pay me to be a depot-level repair facility, and I paid for a NEW unit - not a DIY compressor kit. So, I go back to Amazon to get a return/replacement - since CAT was not going to help. Amazon is now out of stock, and the only seller is charging $150 more than what I paid for the unit. Amazon encourages me to return the compressor, and get a credit towards the new purchase - which would cost me $150 more. So, Amazon Customer Service is out of their minds as well. Finally get someone who tells me to wait until they are back in stock - and they will send me a new one, and pick up the old broken one. What a pain. So frustrating. I hope that the replacement works well - I was really looking forward to having a nice quiet air supply - instead I have gotten the runaround from everyone involved... I fully expect that a good unit will be amazing, just hoping its not months before I can get one...

> 3 dayI put it in my basement and no one hears it on either floors above. Fill time is mediocre as expected. I am very happy with this equipment.

> 3 dayI dont mind having it in the same room when its on. And it does the job. I wish the on/off switch felt more robust. Also, the center of gravity makes it very awkward to roll around. But this purchase has made a significant difference in the quality of our work life considering that when we use it, we use it continuously for hours. Our previous air compressor (one of the cheap, red pancake models that are ubiquitous) stressed us out.

> 3 dayWow! Thats the only word for how impressed I am by this compressor. Super quiet, fills up fast and recovers even faster. Very lightweight too, the aluminum tank is well worth the small increase in price. The only thing to consider with the aluminum tank is it is a tiny bit top heavy. Not unstable at all but just be aware and youll have no problems. Unlike some other reviews, mine arrived perfect. The box wasnt damaged at all, I may have got lucky as I got it in one day. Maybe there wasnt a chance for it to be knocked around in shipping. Bottom line, if your in the market for a compressor this size... get this one.

> 3 dayHavent used it on a a job yet , however it is very quiet and easy to move / pick up . Its half the weight of my old compressor with slightly greater capacity . I will review again after I have some run time with it .

> 3 dayNot much to complain about. Low noise as expected however it just feels cheap when moving it around. Some good bearings for the wheels would do it well!

Greater than one weekThe location of the drain valve makes it a terrific pain in the behind to drain the water out after use. You have to lift the entire compressor and rotate it slightly to one side to drain, and it is not easy. The position of the valve on the side prevents the use of automatic purge valves as well. I think its safe to say well be looking for a compressor with a drain on the bottom the next time we need a new one!

> 3 dayMy wife and I are renovating a mid-1960s house, ultimately planning to live here full-time. My 27gal compressor back home was sorta-portable (wheels & stood vertically) but not easily transportable between the two houses. While researching for a small, quiet compressor for the reno my original compressor violently self-destructed. (:- Portability became much more important. The 8010 is small enough and light enough to strong-arm into a car trunk. Tank capacity is completely adequate for my needs (air gun, light sandblasting, minor cut-off work.) At this level its ideal. BUT--I also needed a relatively-quiet unit. My original was not, and as my wife has offices at both locations Im particularly careful about how much noise I generate. This California Air Tools compressor is billed as ultra-quiet, and thats an excellent description. This is easily the quietest compressor Ive every used, and that includes the little carry-along tire compressors one carries in a car trunk. I have a cousin who has a home-shop in which she makes things for her business. I learned they needed a compressor for some airbrushing they need to do. As noise in her shop is also a big consideration, I was able to recommend this compressor without reservation. Id buy it again, for sure. And yes, I did buy it. I have never accepted compensation for anything I review.
