Decimal level is fantastic compared to normal air compressor. I’m able to meet with clients or talk on the phone and it doesn’t disrupt conversation. Performance of air compressor keeps up great with my air tools for upholstery.

I was hesitant to purchase this air compressor given the other reviews, but had friends who swore by California Air Tools compressors. They are by far the quietest compressors I have ever used. I decided to purchase this compressor anyways, and it worked very well at first. After 25 days of owning this compressor and only using it a handful of times, the metal pipe that connects the tanks to the inlet and on/of controls completely sheared while installing baseboards with a 16 gauge nail gun. Needless to say I am completely livid and disappointed at the quality of this product. As much as I appreciate the quietness of the compressor, I would never recommend purchasing anything from California Air Tools. Save your money and spend it on a more reliable product.

    Greater than one week

It is still a bit loud, although a vast improvement over my old one. I use it in a dental laboratory and while quieter than my previous unit its still loud enough that in a closet with the door shut across the building from me when it kicks on I cant hear the radio anymore and conversations are difficult to have over the noise. However the dual tank capacity is pretty good and its very compact.

Purchased this compressor in Dec 2018 . The compressor motor burnt up this week. Only used it about 30 hours per year so the estimated use is about 120 hours. The advertisement states the unit life is at least 3,000 hours. The unit was always stored indoors never abused. A replacement motor sells for over $300 including tax and shipping. The unit sold for $330 delivered. Watch this YouTube presentation of how to repair the motor. California Air Tool Compressor Failure and Repair Judge for yourself.

I did a lot of research on which air compressor to purchase. This was small enough, yet powerful enough to fit in my garage. It will replace a very, very loud compressor that I have.

Previously had a Porter Cable 6 gal pancake compressor. If you were within 20 feet of it when it kicked on it was loud enough to put you through the roof. That is one of the reasons I chose the California 4610. I had several other problems with my old P C compressor till the tank finally rotted out much sooner than it should have. The California 4610 has aluminum tanks and a drain valve that is very accessible and a dream to operate so blowing out water buildup frequently is simple. Ive been using the 4610 continuously for over two months now and I have absolutely no complaints. And, they are not kidding about it being quiet. You can stand beside it and it doesnt make much more sound than a loud hum. I rarely rate tools or equipment because you really need to give something a good long term workout before you are qualified to give an honest review. So far I believe this one is a winner!

Bought this to blow out swarf while milling. Its very quiet and does not take up a lot of space. No leaks and air volume is sufficient for my uses. Definitely wont fit the needs of larger and noisier compressors, but use your head to select the proper size for what you want it to do.

Super quiet, but thats why I bought it. Well packaged, it survived intact as I watched the UPS man roll it out the door of the truck (yes, he rolled the square box up the aisle and was end-over-ending it down the stairs when I told him to stop and I would take it from there). At roughly 45lbs, its not heavy, but still not light; however, definitely light enough to carry out of a truck. Would be nice to see an aluminum frame for even more weight savings. The on/off switch is not readable unless you have a clear angle as its black on black. I simply wrote on/off with a white marker to make identification quicker, especially in low light. Because of the small capacity it took some time to fine adjust the regulator to (110psi max) without going below. Once I found it, I marked the spot as a reference. I was easily able to adjust the low limit switch to 95psi (factory appeared to be ~85psi) to ensure my nailer didnt fall below minimum. Finally I dont get interrupted by the compressor, and the baby can still sleep when I work inside. For reference, I replaced a bostich pancake with this unit. I swear the bostich was louder than my 5hp shop compressor. This compressor is being used for nail guns only. You could fill tires and do the occasional blast of air, but capacity is lacking for any flowing air application.
