Canon Pixma iP2600 Photo Inkjet Printer (2435B002)

The start up process is a little bit slow from the start but print quality; I cant complain on that. The sounds coming from the printer sounds unsettling at first but soon quiet down once the machine ready for business. Overall this particular printer performs with the best of those more pricey models that print quality comes up far short in comparison.

Good Product for the Price, but if you plan on printing allot, you may want to consider a higher end printer.

Bought the printer at walmart, am on my second black cartridge. Turned the printer on to do some printing and got seven flashes on the amber light. Looked in the manual and read that the cartridge was not properly installed. So far, I reinstalled it about fifty times, to no avail. I still get the same message, can anybody offer any help ?

I bought this printer several months ago for thirty bucks at a big-box discount retail store. (Cant remember whether there was also a USB cable in the box; there might have been. I have plenty of them at home so its not a big deal for me either way.) At the time my main home printer was a fancy Canon multifunction inkjet. I got the IP2600 because its small and lightweight. Although not intended for use as a portable printer, it was easy to take along with my laptop, to the home of an older relative for whom I was doing some word processing. Including printing out 5 x 7 updated pages for her address/phone book. It was perfect for that project. Since that time, my older Canon multifunction inkjet machine bit the dust, and the new Canon multifunction inkjet I bought to replace it? For the life of me, I cannot believe that Canon did not include a printer tray on this printer. This means that whenever you print from this, it doesnt have a nice sheet coming out from it like the picture but spits out your documents all over the ground. Furthermore, the cartridges are tiny. These small little cartridges hold such little ink and constantly need to be replaced and always seem to be drying out and need to be cleaned using the software included with the printer. The catch? Cleaning uses up ink. I am a college student that prints documents and no color, but apparently I cleaned the cartridges enoguh that the color cartridge became empty and it stopped printing until I replaced it. I have always felt that printer companies are like drug dealers, they try to hook you with a cheap printer and then hit you with the expensive cartridges later. This is really just about as bad as it gets with an inkjet printer. I know its a bargain-basement deal, but Canon really cuts corners on this thing way too much. Stay away if you want to protect your sanity. I am writing this at 3am in the morning because my printer, which has two recently replaced cartridges, wont print properly and my documents are all splotched.

I picked one of these up at Walmart years ago and have been happy with the quality of the prints, (though as others have stated, it does drink a lot of ink!). The main problem I have had started about a year after I got it. I dont use it very often, either. The front door ALWAYS triggers an error message that the door is not open and stops printing. This happens EVERY TIME, and the DOOR IS MOST DEFINITELY OPEN. I eventually have to actually sit next to the printer and hold the door down with force, in order to get the printing done. I have searched and havent found many other cases of this happening, so I have no idea what the issue is. I was always going to try to trick the sensor, but never got around to it. The quality is good, but I will probably go with an Epson next time around. I had Epsons first model color ink jet printer and it was a beast! Huge, heavy, and very expensive. But you know what? Even when I finally put it out to pasture when it was 12 years old, it still worked! It was a real workhorse. No more Canon printers for me.

We are very pleased with our Canon photo printer. We printed photos off of the computer the first day we had it and they came out very clear and the colors were perfect. I will use this item for all my picture printing from my camera from now on. It will save me a lot of money since I have been printing pictures at WalMart for 28cents each. Glad we ordered the Canon machine and recommend it to others. Thank you.

If you run out of color ink, it is impossible to use only black ink because it keeps asking to insert the color ink cateridge and refuse to print even though you set it up to use only black cateridge.

What I ORDERED was a new printer, and while I haven’t yet tried hooking it up, it doesn’t look like a new one. Their are no power cords, no instructions and it was shoved into too small a box which was then put into another box of the same size. This may have to be sent back. NOT acceptable!
