While Id never try to use such a printer for work use, this is a perfect printer for the home and home office that prints a couple of pages per day. The price is low, and the quality can be adjusted for reasonably high DPI. Photos, once the beads have settled into the photo paper, leave no streaks and it has an interface you can run to fine tune print head alignment. As for ink, you know what youre getting. Of course these things go through ink. Im still on my original cartridges, and on the 2nd fill for each one. Get a refill kit (I got 4 oz of each color and 8 oz black) and call it good. Use a tool called IPTool.exe (I use version 1.1.5) to reset the color counters of the cartridge. If you dried the cartridge out (or one color out) you can still refill it, and then run the deep head cleaning from the native software to get it working again. IPTool.exe can reset the software counter for that color on the cartridge, and youre back in business. Ive basically spent about $55 for the printer, and $39 for a refill kit that may last me the life of the printer if the jets hold out. So far the color cartridge went dry once, and running back to back deep-cleans fixed everything.

You cannot print black and white without a color cartridge installed. Period. How stupid! Just another way to make money.

LIKED THE PRINTER at first, BUT HORRIBLE DEAL. . . The Printer controls your ink use through MICRO CHIPS! For example, it tells you when you need ink, so you are a slave to it. I only print BLACK & WHITE, but the color gets used up! How is this possible?? AND WORST OF ALL, you must replace this (UNUSED) Color Cartridge BEFORE you can print again!! UGH. I hate this so much. Everything was going so well. . . DO NOT BUY unless you are made of money and enjoy going to STAPLES all the time for refills!!!

What I ORDERED was a new printer, and while I haven’t yet tried hooking it up, it doesn’t look like a new one. Their are no power cords, no instructions and it was shoved into too small a box which was then put into another box of the same size. This may have to be sent back. NOT acceptable!

First of all, this printer is very professional and sleek looking. It doesnt take up much space at all when its all closed up, and prints reasonably fast for most moderate users. Drivers installed easy, came with great free software, free 4x6 photo paper, and free 4x6 premium photo paper. Best value for the price (Although you can find it at about half the cost at a not-to-be-named superstore)

I, like some others stated, got this little guy from Walmart for under thirty last month. I was expecting little for such a price but definitely got more than I paid for! 1. This printer is fast. Speedy for an entry level printer. 2. I am printing a lot of screens from a game, so full color. I had to play with the settings quite a lot to get the look I wanted. I love the Vivid Photo setting. Really makes the colors pop. 3. I have learned paper really makes the print job, so I am using some GREAT Matte Photo Paper by Printworks. (Available here on Amazon.) Make sure to set the paper to High Resolution in the settings! 4. Some one mentioned in their review that they could not print from the last page. That setting is available, under Page Setup in the settings. 5. It looks good! (But the black coating picks up prints much too well for my liking.) Cons: I think Canon should be ashamed of the racket on ink that they have going. At the rate I print, I would be using two carts a month of color. Nearly fifty a month, more than the printer cost!! After much research, I found Hobbicolors ink on Ebay. WOW! That ink is BETTER than the OEM ink. I tried some ink from Amazon, but it was not as good, watered down. I have refilled twice now and no problems with Hobbicolors. I am just staring at my prints in awe. It is a little noisy, but you can turn on quiet mode in the printer settings. It prints a little slower, but I am not in all that much of a hurry. I am just a hobbyist, not a graphic designer or anything, so I can definitely recommend this printer for the everyday user.

Ive been using Canon printers happily since the very first Bubble Jet. Over the years I learned how to use bulk ink, relatively inexpensive non-OEM cartridges, etc. Ive used a few HP printers, but they always seemed to develop hardware or other problems after a year or so. So I picked up the ip2600 for general use, mainly in my home office, where I simply want something to print documents (usually in fast mode greyscale). Occasionally something in color. When I want to do prints I use an ip3500, in the basement, which does a much better job. This printer will take you to the poor house. It goes through these tiny and over-priced chipped cartridges at a stunning rate. The overall quality is pretty good. Not brilliant, but certainly passable. But, holy cow, Canon has joined the rip-off ranks. So, now this one goes to the basement for emergency purposes only. Come on guys, if youre going to do these chipped cartridges, at least make them with decent capacity at a fair price.

The first one I received didnt work right out of the box. A new one was sent which is fine. It is an attractive unit, however, in order to keep a supply of paper in it, you must open the top and front for operation which spoils the looks. I dont use it too much, so I just keep paper elsewhere and keep the unit closed.
