Caran dAche Classic Neocolor II Water-Soluble Pastels, 15 Colors

Really was looking forward to these as an extra tool for my acrylic and watercolor work, but so many arrived broken! Bummed but for the price, will be returning.

Love these crayons

This order was a gift for my niece. Ive had my set for awhile and I love them. Fun to use to add texture to my watercolor paintings.

I love these! They work similarly to watercolor pencils but have a much smoother, heavier, and creamier lay down when dry and provide thicker coverage when wet. The colors are bright and vibrant and this set provides a great range of colors and neutrals to use for skin tones. They can be used by applying directly to dry paper and then going over with a brush, by using a brush to pick up color directly from the pastel for lighter washes, or for the deepest coverage, applying to wet paper. So far Ive used them on mixed media paper, in art journals, on watercolor paper and in adult coloring books all with success. If you want to try them out and you like coloring or sketching people, go with this set or higher. The smaller sets do not have the salmon color which is perfect for light skin tones.

I really like the quality and the versatility of this product but my joy and excitement was dashed when I opened the tin box. As you can clearly see 20% of the contend in the tin box is broken. I am pretty sure is not the fault of Caran D’ache but rather the shipping method of Amazon. Please be aware when purchasing this product with Amazon. I have heard many of the some complaints regarding broken tips from many buyers. I wish there is a partial refund or credit.

The face coloring station is a favorite at our local childrens museum. We found out these are the crayons they use. We use it like they do with a wet sponge to drip in the crayon, then lots of creativity ensues. Great product and they last forever!

Used these for my 4th of July Party to do kid face painting. Worked wonderfully. Stayed on well on a hot day and washed off with soap and water. The kids loved painting eachother. Highly recommend

Its great to have something that is not only a mark maker but also can transform into something softer.

These apply extremely well. They feel just like crayons when drawing and paint on like watercolor pencils. You would think that the wax would get in the way of applying water and painting them, but it doesnt. I thought the color itself wasnt applying evenly when painted, but it turned out that what I was seeing were tiny air bubbles that disappeared as the paint dried and soaked into the page. I bought the 30 set and now that I know that I like them, I want more. Its worth noting that of the set of 30 colors I bought, compared to the lightfastness ratings from Caran dAche, nine of them are fugitive colors. Its not that big of a deal, but after seeing that nearly 2/3rds are not archival quality I do wish I had bought individual crayons instead of a set.
