Christmas with the Kranks

> 3 dayDislike—none. Like the whole idea. Except for celebrating the Holy Birth of Jesus, the rest of Christmas is overdone. What has Frosty the Snowman have to do with the birth of Christ? Or Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer. Or the whole Santa concept, which has become so socially commercialized? Or fruit cake? Etc, Etc. I love giving, giving from the heart and I loathe how children especially are not taught the real reason for Christmas. At times, like the Kranks, I would totally love to ignore the commercialism and one ups-manship housing decorations and who gets to go to whose party. But this movie is totally humorous depiction of the craziness that many people to, to celebrate of holiday.

> 3 dayI finally watched this movie which has been maligned for years. But, I found it to be a heartfelt, quirky and love-able Christmas movie with a message. Tim Allen plays a man who convinces his wife, wonderfully played by Jamie Lee Curtis to skip and ignore Christmas in lieu of his dream Caribbean vacation. Well, life disrupts his plans when their daughter decides to surprise then with her fiancée for Christmas. The movie starts with the Kranks pissing off everybody form their neighbors, the police, the tree salesman, etc with their message of no Christmas décor, tree, party or celebration. The latter half sees those same people come together to help the Kranks slap together a home Christmas for their daughter who is beloved. Dan Ackroyd, Cheech Marin, and M. Emmett Walsh have solid supporting roles

> 3 dayOveracting on Jamie Curtis part as a mother of grown daughter away from home. Tim Allen plays the father & wants to go forego Xmas & go to the Caribbean since their daughter isnt coming home for the holidays.

> 3 dayEvery Saturday we do family movie night. Each December we pick different Christmas movies that we haven’t watched yet. Kids are 10 and 14. We chose this one on Amazon prime this year, and it was quite boring for all. Some laughs at silly parts by my 10 year old(when someone fell on snow) but wouldn’t ever choose to watch again. Surprised to see it was made in 2004. Felt more like a 90’s movie.
