> 3 dayWe love this Christmas flick and consider it one of the very best holiday efforts. You do not have a Christmas Film collection if you dont have this in your collection! Perfectly done and full of laughs. We watch it every time Christmas rolls around.

Greater than one weekLove the movie. I did not expect it to arrive before Christmas as I ordered it late. But it came on the 23rd in time for me to watch it before Christmas.

> 3 dayMy family and I always enjoy movies weve never seen before, especially around the holidays. This one is fun and silly, but the premise is also rather ridiculous and I ended up disappointed in it.

> 3 dayThis movie is okay for background noise while you bake sugar cookies and decorate for Christmas. The Kranks street was beautiful at the end when it was snowing and all the houses were properly lit and decorated (which is the theme of the movie.) Very lightweight and totally predictable from the beginning. Mr. Krank is a type of modern day Scrooge or Grinch who transforms from old curmudgeon to compassionate and thoughtful neighbor, but to me there was no real impetus for him to do so. Everyone gathered round with happy holiday songs, as is typical of many Christmas tales, and each person put aside their own prejudices to make Christmas happen. But people dont change that easily. I had the feeling he was back at work griping at his secretaries the next day. The magic of Christmas. I paid $1.99 to rent it, but it was hardly worth the money. I say to krank up some nice Christmas music instead, if you want to set the mood.

> 3 dayFunny movie, nice pace and good cast. Not quite a Christmas classic, but a good movie to watch at the holiday season.

07-06-2025OK, this isnt the most profound Christmas movie ever made--we all know what that is already. Nothing will ever touch Its a Wonderful Life as far as great Christmas movies go--very few movies on any subject are that great. But nonetheless, Christmas with the Kranks is a fun movie that demands little in the way of emotional or intellectual devotion--its just a sweet innocent family movie that was designed to make you feel good and hopefully make you laugh a few times and this movie does its job extremely well. I first saw this film on TV and, because I didnt see it from the start, I ordered it online and, by sheer coincidence, it was the first movie I watched on my new TV. I think that both Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis are underrated comedic actors and they both play very likable characters in this film. Yes, of course, the story is contrived and silly and the screenplay has logic gaps that you could drive a Christmas-tree truck through, but its still a fun film that everyone in the family can watch. And there are a few tender moments that are pretty well done. One of the things that I love is the aerial footage of the neighborhood (probably just a model or done with CGI) with all the Christmas lights lit--some extremely pretty photography. The neighborhood in the film is a very idealized vision of suburbia, but thats OK--nothing wrong with playing to peoples fantasies of what life should be. Anyway, not a ground-breaking film by any means, but an extremely pleasant way to sip a cup of tea, eat a few Christmas cookies and enjoy some stress-free Christmas moments. I watched the movie after Christmas because, as much as I love Christmas movies, Ive pretty much grown to loathe what has become of the holiday itself. The frustrating thing for me in watching films like this is wondering: How close was this to being a great film if they had only hired better writers to punch up the script--or perhaps if they had left the original script alone? Im going to read Grishams book and see.

13-06-2025I read John Grishams book Skipping Christmas a few years ago, about other peoples expectations of us at the holidays and what happens we someone dares to say, Im opting out this year! When this movie came out, it was not entirely what I expected and seemed a bit cheesy at first, but it has really grown on me over the seasons. A great cast including Dan Akroyd, Tom Poston and Cheech Marin make the movie work well. I love the scene with Jamie Leigh trying to get the last holiday ham! She is so great at physical comedy. As a mom whose youngest son lives out of the country, I would do the same in a heartbeat if he showed up for Christmas.
