My son has loved this since he was 4 months old. Hes 11 months now and he will watch it three or more times if I keep playing it for him. He plays on the floor and looks up to watch the children commenting, and he definitely has his favorite friends in the show. I like it because its got substantial content in an easy to digest format, and he probably wont develop ADD from this like he might from Sponge Bob. Or so I hear. I think its great, and I hope theres a sequel. We have the entire Classical Baby set, but the Poetry Show is by far our favorite.

My kids love the Classical Baby series. It gives them a greater appreciation of art, classical music, dance and poetry. I would recommend to all parents to have in their collection.

I bought this CD for my little granddaughter when she was one year old. She just turned two and this CD still casts a spell over her whenever we put it on! The Swing and How Do I Love Thee? are her favorites, and she can quote several verses from the latter. Gwyneth Paltrow: if you ever read this review, I want you know that there is a little two-year-old girl who thinks you are simply wonderful! Well, of course, she does think you are a Mommy Rabbit!

My baby is six years old, and I really enjoyed watching this with her just now. Im a bit non-plussed by the idea of actually sitting an infant down with it, but for a kid about the age of the actual kids reading some of the poems, I thought it was awesome.

My grandoughter is a bit too young to understand poetry but she enjoys watching and listening to the kids. I absolutely love seeing the poetry visualized and the children featured in the video are extremly creative, smart and enjoyable to watch.

Young children are instinctively drawn to the sound of rhyming words and the rhythmic cadence of poetry. Add colorful animation, music, and footage of real elementary age children, and Classical Baby has created an appealing half-hour program that encourages an early appreciation of poetry. Produced in association with The Poetry Foundation, Classical Baby: The Poetry Show is a compilation of 13 favorite poems from poetry masters like William Shakespeare, John Keats, Woodie Guthrie, and Gertrude Stein. Famous personalities including Gwyneth Paltrow and Susan Sarandon recite poems like Elizabeth Barrett Browning"s "How Do I Love Thee?" and Robert Frost"s "Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening." William Carlos Williams reads his own "This is Just to Say" while Hoagy Carmichael performs Johnny Mercer"s "Skylark" and young children recite poems like William Carlos Williams" "The Red Wheelbarrow." Poems are accompanied by bright animation that"s highly appealing to children and many are followed by brief comments from elementary age children. Some preschool and elementary-age viewers will be transfixed by the entire production while others will pick and choose the segments they find interesting, but what"s most important is that every young viewer gains exposure to the art of poetry. --Tami Horiuchi
