Greater than one weekI’ve started doing some metal work to make items for my various hobbies. I wanted to try turning some brass on my metal lathe so ordered this. A small test turn came out fine for my experience level.

Greater than one weekVery high-quality brass stock. Micrometer shows .499-.500 diameter, and consistent for the entire length. This material can be used for turning drifts and punches. Comes in a protective plastic tube, polished, with a fine finish. This would make good stock for turning bushings of less than 1/2. If you make things with metal, this is a very good piece of stock for your bench. Good price, also.

> 3 dayI like the finish of all pieces, and the size of the 3/16 rods is accurate. I found the 5/16 rod to be very slightly undersized, but only by 0.0005. It makes for a snug slip fit in an accurately sized hole. The 3/8 rod was .0015 over which made it a press fit in a 3/8 hole. While I have done pins for knife handles, I do plenty of other DIY crafts and enjoy using brass for the appearance and workability. Great to have on hand!

> 3 dayIm so happy to have this set of rods in my work shop. Mainly, the larger diameter rods will be used for keeping the scales on the knives I make as I dabble with blacksmithing. The smaller ones are great for repair work - I actually TIG weld rods like this to fill holes in larger brass objects - tricky but it works like a charm (yes, in a well ventilated environment). But yeah, for the price, Ill get a ton of use out of these brass rods. Its worth the money for just knowing I have them available for any number of uses, to be honest. Very, very happy.

> 3 dayThese rods are intended for knife making, and attaching scales to the handle. I was surprised to see knife brass rod as thin as this, so I bought it immediately for an art project. This project will be displayed in a certain state that takes material composition very seriously. I was very happy to find that there is no lead in these at all, and they machine very well. I think that this is a tremendous value. They come shipped very well, and they are in a small plastic protector, similar to those that you find on thermometers. Great stuff!

> 3 dayI’ve used brass rods for repairs on dozens of items, from the old knife and pan handles to the hinges on our truck’s cup holder. In my shop they are almost as essential an item as screws and nails and I always have a supply on hand. These are as advertised in size and quality. They’re less expensive than at my local hardware. I would normally give an item like this 4 stars but I added one star for the convenient packaging/storage case. Full Disclosure: I acquired this as a Vine user. While we pay nothing up front for products, it is counted as taxable income at the retail price. This generally means Vine members pay about 30% of retail in taxes. We take our reviewing seriously and endeavor to assess quality to the best of our abilities. As consumers we rely on other peoples reviews, so we try to return the favor. Our Ratings Criteria: 1 star. Lowest we can give, recommendation against purchasing 2 stars. Meh minus. Has some major downside or flaws 3 stars. Meh. Not great, has some minor issues but you may find it useful 4 stars. Meets expectations, works as designed, no major or obvious issues, a reasonable choice 5 stars. Exceeds expectations, highly recommended purchase.

> 3 dayThe brass rods arrived nicely packaged in a blue square plastic container, like larger drill bits are packaged in. I purchased these to cut and use as inlays on the guitar fretboards Im making. The 1/4 diameter is right on, so they will drop into a 1/4 hole nicely. The pieces are easy to cut and polish. I did a test of one in a small scrap of fretboard and it turned out great. There are two 12 rods in the package, at just under 1/4 per fret marker I should be able to get about 90 disks out of this package. I will purchase a package of the smaller diameter (1/8) for the neck side markers. Quality product, true to size, and packaged well. Update: I purchased the 2mm diameter brass rods and they are the same quality as the 1/4 rods. Nice straight, shiny brass rods. They will work for the side fret markers, or on the front of the fretboard to add some design to the markers. Both sets of brass rods I have purchased from this seller are perfect for what I need.
