> 24 hourOne of the first things to know about the Crucial P5 NVMe drive is that Crucial is made by Micron (of Idaho), one of the leading memory chip makers in the world. Theyve been a consistent top performer for decades. Most of all, unlike other brands, you can know that all Crucial products consistently use Micron chips, so you can expect consistent, high performance results. (Brands switching the chips in their SSDs is an industry problem at the time of this writing) The P5 drive - the top performer in their line - is designed for gaming, number crunching, video and other workstation tasks, so it was an easy choice for my system that would be doing all of that. And it didnt disappoint. The build quality is excellent. It installed easily and has performed without a hitch since Day One. If youre coming from anything less than a different high performance NVMe (and there are a couple of solid competitors), you WILL notice the zippy load times and data transfer times. Another nice feature - likely because Crucial is using their own chips - is that the price is very good for the size and performance of the drive. It isnt dirt cheap, but it can be less than equally performing NVMe drives from big-name competitors. Personally, I bundled this with Ballistix RAM and have been very, very pleased with the flawless performance.

> 24 hourIve owned many ssds and not necessarily nvmes for a while. I have devices with them, but I used this drive to install in my brothers pc setup. After roughly 20-26 days, my brother experienced some very odd stuff. The drive would suddenly say it had used 900 gb/1 tb. Afterwards windows would prevent him from logging in and it threw an error stating he was typing the wrong pin. What it turned out to be was the beginning of a failing drive. After we reformatted and cloned the drive again from new, we again tried to use the drive. This time we went through multiple BSODs and never got into windows again. I tried a long time before I hated to admit this, but the drive failed. I tried to find like 20 other things as the issue until I decided to call it quits. So I had someone buy a new drive for us which I will not name at this time (otherwise its like I am shilling for another company). So far the other drive works perfectly and I doubt it will happen again, but if it crashes after 20-26 days, Ill be back here to raise the star rating. Overall, I bet the drive is great, but I wasted a lot of time and effort helping my brother which would have been nice if the drive did not fail. I will boost the rating if the new drive fails as then it would be fair, but at this state I believe I am being fair with the review.

> 24 hourThis is the second Crucial product Ive bought for my Dell computer and Im loving both of them. First was a 16 GB ram stick, easy to install, and instantly improved my computers performance. This 500 GB SSD was easy to install and Crucial has the program (free) to clone my current hard drive to the SSD. No Problem and the computer is really fast. Im a photographer so all my photos and videos will be kept on the old HDD. The O/S and apps will be on the new SSD. Six months later and this review still stands! Best computer upgrade Ive ever made.

> 24 hourVery fast drive once you turn on cache in the app. Boot time is a tiny bit better than a ssd. You still have to get past Bios and windows pre load junk. But once windows get past log in screen wow! This P5 flys, only thing i hope they fix in a bios update for the p5 is temps. I have mainboard heatsink on it and it still runs at 50c. Compaired to a slower Blue western digital drive that run 30c.

> 24 hourWorks well. Their site has a good version of Acronis software to transfer from the old drive.

> 24 hourThis product is just overall really good for its price. You can always get more speed and memory if you pay more, but Id say this was priced well during a sale. This boots up faster than my SSD which is an upgrade, but so far there isnt really much to say on this other than its really good so far.

> 24 hourI have only had the issue of Windows Explorer restarting and not being able to use mouse pad or keyboard shortcut to shut down laptop twice. Ever since the second time it happened I have not had the problem again. I am studying to be an IT Technician in College and have a bit of technical experience with laptops and desktops over the years. I would recommend this to others. If you are following the same type of path I am then it will be easy for you to install as well. Just make sure you use Acronis software to clone your hard drive after you install it in a laptop or desktop. You can use a USB to connect you old hard drive to clone it. I would also like to mention dont use easeuse software because it will damage your new hard drive.

> 24 hourSpecs were as stated. Upgraded Dell laptop NVME 128gb to the Crucial P5 1tb worked perfectly. It does run hot though. Crystal Disk under load hit 75 C.... be aware. Didnt test the previous drive for temp. Couldve been similar. I would recommend a heat sink. Check clearances if in laptop. Extremely fast!

> 24 hourI ordered a 1 TB version since it was on sale on Prime Day. The read/write numbers were unacceptably low (in the 1500s). I returned the SSD and asked for a replacement. I received the new one today and just finished cloning it. I got around the same numbers again (see photo). Im giving it one star and will be returning this one for a refund and buying another brand. Update: After reading through the (very) fine print in my motherboard manual, it appears the slot I was using for the drive wasnt compatible with the expected (higher) speed of the drive. I tried putting the drive in a different slot and reran the numbers. Now Ive got even higher than rated speeds (see second picture). Raised the rating to 5 stars.
