Purchased this 2TB upgrade for my Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon (6th Gen). Cloned my existing drive as is using Acronis then installed in computer. The Lenovo diagnostic and repair utility started automatically, then selecting the advanced options I was able to select the new drive as the primary boot device. After that everything worked fine. I didnt really expect much except increased capacity given the problems Intel has been having with chipset fixes through Microsoft updates, but in fact the increased speed over my original P2 is easy to see. Displays are more snappy, software loading is faster, software controls are more crisp. Overall, a great product!

Although I have been running SSD only computers for a while, they have always been the standard SATA SSDs, limited to about 550MB/sec transfer rate, which is already very fast when compared to even the fastest SATA HDs. However after researching and watching many review videos, I decided to give the Crucial P5 a shot, and I am extremely glad I did! As you can see in the two uploaded screenshots I have provided, my SATA SSD, (a Crucial MX500 1TB) reads at about 562 MB/sec and writes at about 517 MB/sec. However when running that same test on the Crucial P5 NVME SSD, the read speeds are around 3500 MB/sec and write speed is around 3200 MB/sec! The speed increase is off the charts! I am very happy with my purchase!

This review is an update, as theyre not separating the P5 from P5 plus in reviews. For the non pus model, the product itself is great but there were no nvme screws. I realize most motherboards come with them but at the price tag they could include $1 worth of hardware. Please note the non plus is NOT compatible with a ps5 For the P5 Plus - This is the best budget SSD you can currently get for the PS5. Yes, you will have to get your own heat sink and install that yourself, but that cost is like $10 at the most. you will not find another SSD that even competes at the price, and definitely not one with a heatsink. also ironically, the p5 plus has a screw, just the plain p5 doesnt.

My main options were the Samsung Evo pro m.2 drives but they were much more expensive than this. I have never used a Crucial product so I was going out on a whim and now I wish I bough the 1TB instead. Installing programs, booting windows and transferring items to and from this drive is lightning fast. If you want to save a buck from other products but get similar (if not the same) performance then buy this.

I upgraded my Dell G3 gaming laptop with this. Its a bit larger than the original SSD, but fits just fine. Re-use the mounting screw and you are all set. Take note you will need a 3rd party software package (I used AMOEI backupper) to clone your drive. I used a cheap USB drive enclosure and it was done.

This is my first M.2, upon reading reviews and doing a little research I decided on Crucial and I do NOT regret my decision!!! I’ll likely be picking up another one because what’s better than 1 2TB Crucial SSD??? 2 of them. I run my OS and my biggest game on mine. Use 2TB Seagate for storage.

Honestly, after a couple of months and a couple of Linux kernel upgrades, this particular NVME SSD does not seem to work with Linux OSes. I was using it in the Framework laptop running Ubuntu 21.10, latest kernel 15.16 and but my OS did not wake up after sleep. This is the only key issue I had with this. For some reason, if your linux OS goes to sleep, it will have trouble waking up as it will not detect the SSD anymore requiring a hard reboot. This is also a well-reported issue within Framework, but it might be possible it affects other brands as well - as of the time of this writing there are no firmware updates on crucials website either. I have had to resort to the WD SN series and that fixed the sleep issue. Outside of this setback, your mileage may be better. Currently putting this in my PC Windows gaming desktop as extra storage instead. Overall good but not perfect for my situation.

Very fast drive once you turn on cache in the app. Boot time is a tiny bit better than a ssd. You still have to get past Bios and windows pre load junk. But once windows get past log in screen wow! This P5 flys, only thing i hope they fix in a bios update for the p5 is temps. I have mainboard heatsink on it and it still runs at 50c. Compaired to a slower Blue western digital drive that run 30c.

Did not realise that you need to source your own screw to install the SSD in the laptop. However, once a screw was eventually found, the drive was installed easily and worked fine. Significantly quicker load times across the board compared to the original HDD in the laptop.

I used this drive to swap out the blade SSD in a 2017 27” iMac, used with an adapter for the stock iMac port on the logic board. Using the BlackMagic disk speed test I’m getting speeds between 2500-2800 read/write. Performance is as I expected. No concerns at all with formatting the drive or getting started with it in this setting. no sleep/wake issues in the iMac. Very happy overall.
