DEWALT 20V MAX* LED Work Light / Flashlight (DCL040)

And I love that it goes with the dewalt battery that we already have! We bought this for camping be sude we didn’t have a flashlight and wanted something versatile. I think this is going to be great for camping but also around the house, workshop, power outage, etc!

This is my second Dewalt max work light. The first has a red light as the second switch option. This light has a bright then lower power beam for the two switch settings. I own about 50 dealt 12 and 20 volt tools and in general find them all to be extremely reliable and durable. I leave the first one of these I own in our camper because it is so reliable and effective. This light has been faulty since about the three month mark. I contacted Amazon and they sent me to Dewalt. No one at dealt responded at first so I tried again and they sent me a set of instructions. Once the light is switched on it may operate normally, sometimes it shuts off sometimes it sticks and cannot be turned off and in some cases it will not turn on. I have tried multiple batteries, amperage ratings and after market batteries. It just seems to be a faulty switch and I cannot get Amazon or Dewalt to replace this one? Not sure what to offer to new buyers? Test it out as much as possible to see if the switch is good or bad. Mine worked fine for 3 months and no idea why it failed?

The light is great. I use it for home inspections in attics and dark crawl spaces. It’s not great for close up but good for getting a lot of light in dark areas. The night vision (red light) is nice when I’m taking the dog out at night because it’s not invasive to neighbors or hard on my eyes to adjust to. Why 4 and not 5... well the two settings are not enough. Also, to get to the red light you must first go through the ultra bright white light. How to make it better... The DCL050 area light has a high and low setting which I would like to see on the DCL043. I would also like to see a switch to go between white and red. Then in each mode you could have different brightness levels. This would then be 4 different modes and a lot more useful of a light. Sum it up... great light of you are looking for bright light for night where you don’t have to worry about bothering others. If you are looking for a work light in right areas, this is not your light.

Love this light! It’s works well for me because I have a lot of Dewalt cordless tools that use the same batteries and it last longer than any battery light I’ve used and super bright. I use it for work every morning to setup tools on job sites. Also take it with me in the boat for those early morning runs and coming back in the dark on the weekends

Super bright can see at least 200+ yards with it!

I saw a lineman using this light in the middle of the night in the rain with a utility emergency. The light was stronger than anybody else’s spotlight, so I decided to get my own. I’m not disappointed. It’s been used and abused but still lights up perfectly.

Works really well. May be the best spot light I ever had.
