> 3 dayDue to some settling my exterior door was no longer plumb and difficult to lock. I used one of these to bump out the bottom hinge a bit and it now closes and locks perfectly.

Greater than one weekHad the front door to beach cottage changed. The door had un-even gaps (closer to frame on right side but large gaps on top left and left side). The door would not shut without engaging the deadbolt by force. The installer said that it was normal after over $500 install charge. Placing two of this shims by loosening hinges on right bottom and one in middle hinge fixed the issue

> 3 dayNoticed I could see light coming through the bottom left side of my front door. Its been VERY cold out and I was wondering why my electric fireplace didnt seem to be heating as well. Walked up to the door and put my hand down and you could feel icy air pouring right in! Googled how to fix something like this, found these on Amazon and had them in just a couple of days. It was SO easy to fix the door! I just swung my door open wide, sat down on my front stoop and removed the screws on the side of the hinge that attaches to the door. I slid in one of the shims, put just two of the screws back in then shut the door to check it. Theres was still a gap - though a lot smaller - so I put a second shim in. Now its PERFECT! The door also isnt wobbly when locked since its better aligning with the bolt plates. What a perfect product! Does exactly what its supposed to, super easy to install AND super cheap! Theyre also plastic so not like theyre going to compress or deteriorate like home made cardboard shims will. I still have THIRTEEN left over shims. I posted on facebook to friends to see if anyone else could use them. (The pics are before, after and a shot of the hinge so you can see what it looks like with the shims in place)

> 3 dayI have been fighting my front door alignment since I bought this house. Adding one of these shims to the bottom hinge really helped. Adding two was too much and pushed the door out of alignment in the other direction. Replacing the top hinge screws with longer screws that extend past the door frame (#9 wood screws, 2-3 inch length) fixed the rest of the alignment problems. the front door now works perfectly. The pack came with enough shims to let me work on all of the other doors in this house that are out of alignment.

> 3 dayFront door was not plumb and had a gap at the bottom of about 3/8ths of an inch. Three issues: 1) the existing screws would not be long enough to secure the door into the jamb, 2) the shims were not the same width as the hinge, so there would be a rocker effect as the door opened and closed, 3) a 3/8 inch shim at the hinge side would be pretty ugly. So I will probably cut a tapered piece of wood to put on the jamb on the opposite side. Note these would probably work well for a smaller gap, however hinge screws are set into the jamb and shimming a hinge even 1/16th of an inch prevents the existing screws from setting as deep. There are 2.5/3 inch screws available specifically for this purpose.

Greater than one weekFor years I used cardboard for shims with mixed results over time (cardboard compresses over time). I bought these shims when my front door once again wouldnt lock. The dead bolt was hitting below the bore in the door frame. I removed the card board shims and replaced them with two of the EZ-SHIMS. The door locks normally again. I dont see the EZ -Shims compressing like the cardboard does. The only minor issue (really a non-issue for me), is that you will probably have to trim them as they are not the correct shape for most newer hinges. In order to fit the EZ-Shims in the hinge mortise for hinges with rounded corners, two corners need to be trimmed. That is easily done with a pair of scissors.

Greater than one weekThese shims were very easy to install and I was able to straighten a door that was sticking closed due to soil shifting in a hot Houston summer.
