Facebook Portal Plus - Smart Video Calling 15.6” Touch Screen Display with Alexa - Black

I’m so confused and annoyed! I purchased this and was so excited to try it out. I’ve had the Original Echo Show since it’s been out and I’ve loved it! It’s been acting slow and out of date recently and so I wanted to update to something new and I was going between the Echo Show 10 or the Portal Plus and I decided on the portal plus because I loved the bigger display screen. I get it and I’m in love with it until I started trying to use the basic features that my Echo Show had because the Portal Plus has Alexa built into it. The portal plus is terrible! I asked a few of the basic questions. “ Hey Alexa/Portal, connect to my phone “ It wouldn’t work and I had to go to the device and click on my phone or go to my phone’s Bluetooth settings and click on the device to connect them. “ Hey Alexa/Portal, call whoever “ It said I had to connect my contacts when I already had all my accounts logged in and active. “ Hey Alexa/Portal, play Spotify “ It never worked either. It doesn’t play my music unless I connect it from my phone. So that’s makes this device almost pointless if I can’t even ask for the basic question that everything else can do. It doesn’t even have a drop in feature like the Echo Shows but it has Alexa built in!? Okay… I’ve had this device for about 2 weeks and I get home yesterday to see that my device completely reset and I had to re do everything! So I decided to go ahead and return it and exchange it for the Echo Show 10. I know it’ll do better. Really sad if you ask me. Very disappointed.

Facebook engineers did an awesome job with the development and functionality of the Facebook Portal+. The Portal+ is a great option for anyone in the business environment trying to collaborate with a distributed team or just trying to communicate with family and friends through WhatsApp. You will love the Smart Camera! The Portal+ comes in handy specially during the Coronavirus pandemic. Everyone should get one of these units.

Love it, love it, love it!!! Bought 2, this one and the smaller one, gave the small one to my sister for her birthday,, then I went back and got another big one for myself and my sister bought a bigger one for herself. I am going to purchase another one for another room in my house, I just love The Portal they are Alexa integrated. Life is sweeter with these wonderful screen quality, touch screen items. I am able to watch videos, movies, my family and friends on a big screen and safe the batter on my phone. I adore this product. Just so glad I lived long enough to enjoy this. My mother died in 2006, she would have loved the stuff we enjoy today, thank you Lord.

I purchased this portal about a year ago to go live to facebook, I used it a few times and it was great. Recently, I went to do a live from it and they have removed the feature. If youre strictly using this for video chats, it is great. That was not what I purchased it for so now I have a facebook portal that does not work for what I purchased it for. Shame on the maker for removing apps that people specifically purchased this device for.

Works really well for chatting with parents and friends that are far away (esp. during a pandemic it turns out). Auto tracking works well, audio is good during video chats. Using it for listening to music is adequate. Definitely wouldnt consider sound quality for music amazing but is pretty good.

My In-laws live overseas and they are of old age. Bought two and, after setting it up, sent it to them. Just at the push of button, we can do a video call with amazing sound and video quality. Highly recommend.

Does require reasonable upload speed in order for picture quality to be good (say 5MB+ or so). If you or the other user has DSL, picture quality will be bad.

So i use Facebook messenger and whats up app a lot(daily) so this is an amazing devise for me. It is so cool, it moves when you move (moderate speed, so dont run) and it zooms in and out (for example if you were in a room talking and someone else comes in it zooms out to catch that person and vise versa when that person leaves it zooms back in on you). Also if there is a sound in the background it concentrates on your voice so the person on the other line does not get distracted. Also on messenger you can tell stories (kids stories). Now for Alexa app, its good but not perfect let me explain more so it does pull up recipes and turns on and off the lights but it doesnt save the recipe like the other Alexa apps and it doesnt show you the feed to your cameras but other than that its great and very useful to not have you holding your phone all the time and can multi task while youre chatting... i love it. My advice to you if you dont use the messenger and whats up apps regularly it wouldnt be useful to you. Hope this review helps your decision.

I like being a hands free device, I like when it chases me around the area and I like the crisp screen. I dislike that sometimes have to shout Hey Portal to be heard and I dislike when it gets lost in some rare occasions. Overall, I like it and I wish it keeps evolving.
