Alexa app keeps giving connection error. No-way to conatct support and phone calling doesnt work as expected either.

Overall the product works well for face time activities. Downloading apps is not possible it seems - which is a huge disappointment as they say you can do this. Otherwise seems to function fine.

Ive been with my momma for a number of months helping her to transition to a retirement community & working through some medical challenges. Ive been in the habit of tucking her in each night. Now its time for me to go home. I purchased this so that we can connect each night at bedtime. I especially love how it is voice controlled. All she has to do is tell it to call me. I got the biggest size so that its more life size... This will bring us both a lot of comfort, connectedness. Night times can be a challenge for her, this will help so much cuz Im just a video call away!

It is easy to set up

Was not what was advertised. It was supposed to be new and it came in a plastic bag with no power cord or anything else.

The device functionality is actually pretty cool, when it works. But be prepared - it’s terrible in a mid-range WiFi area. You basically need it to sit right next to your router, which limits where you can actually use it. We placed ours in our kitchen, only one room away from our office where the router is, and all day long kept hearing pulsing sounds from the Portal as it disconnected and reconnected to the network. At first, Portal’s customer service was responsive and helpful, until I sent them a video of the problem and they handed me to one of the “technical experts” who basically repeated the same troubleshooting process as their frontline staff. Subpar product with subpar customer service. Wouldn’t buy again.

I had HIGH Hopes for this unit.. but to be honest, it just let me down really. The applications are limited, you cant even open Facebook on the app without using a Web Browser? Not really sure why that is the case... the applications you can download are VERY limited. However, if you are using this just as a communication platform with friends and family, its pretty good! The camera feature that follows and focuses in on you cant seem to be adjusted though unless you are in a certain mode. Its very annoying when you are speaking to someone and the camera sees your dog and then zooms in on the dogs or whatever. However, I do like the speakers and the Alexa integration, but seriously.. Facebook needs to put some Steve Jobs into this as it needs some TLC people! As I said, I had such high hopes for this and its a great start.... but just needs some extra something, especially for the cost. Just my 2 cents. It is a nice option for alexa and calling if you want it on your kitchen counter.. but to be a show stopper, it needs some work .. especially in the application aspect(s). Reminds me of the first Amazon Kindle.. good start but sure needed help... lets just hope this unit gets the help it deserves and the potential it can reach!

Pros: perfect picture, sound quality is great and its excellent on zoom. Plus alexa is awesome as always... Cons: outside of the points i just mentioned... NO you cant download or upload and forget about posting pictures or videos especially on Facebook or IG.. Im a IG fanatic but you can only view your page and you cant post anything from this device. Im sorry, its going back! If FB is going to sell this tablet like device for $$$, at least let people post their pictures and stuff. Yup, im sad to say, its just for video calling. I was told it did so much more.. :-(

Aside from the amazing video and audio quality, I love the zoom in/out feature which follows my children’s movement around the room. An amazing investment!!
