I use this for correcting online college papers. Nice display, nice presentation. The base kinda cuts down on the move-it-around-the-desktop-ability, but thats OK.

Liked The item has no problem calling with Facebook Messenger. The music is nice too, with good bass. The bass of echo show 10 2nd gen is better. The size of the screen is good, when you are calling someone from the phone, portrait is good. The nice thing about this device is that the camera follows when you move. The microphone has a good reception. Bluetooth Headset When you connect your bluetooth headset it worked and the built in speaker and mic will be muted. Camera The camera is very clear and sharp. Augmented reality is also good. Disliked Alexa Calls This has been my question and no one has been covered about Alexa built in calling to another alexa device. It cannot make alexa calls. Apps No Youtube, Tiktok, Instagram app. It can be visited via web browsers. Ezviz Viewing ezviz camera is really slow.

I bought this for my grandfather just as coronavirus started to become a real concern. I wanted him to be able to video chat with the family when we werent able to visit him. Unfortunately, his retirement community went on lockdown before I could deliver it. So until I can get it to him, we are using it in our home. I have a 5year old and a 16 month old. Video chatting with them via phone is hard for the people on the other end of the screen. They are ALL OVER THE PLACE and hard to follow. The portal has a nice wide field of vision that keeps them in frame most of the time However the BEST feature is the automatic face detection and camera tracking. It follows the girls all over our living room, keeping them in frame so their grandparents can always see them. It isnt 100% perfect, but it is a huge improvement over not having ng this feature and just trying to follow them with the phone. Surprised - I thought this was a pointless product, but now that I have one, it is the only way I want to video call Fwiw, the Alexa and FB assistant I tegratio s are nice, and the speakers are quite good quality (and powerful). We listen to Pandora, Amazon music, and lots more on here daily. I will probably buy one of these to replace it once I give this one to my grandfather. There are really great for connecting with family.

This system has already broken twice. Yes portal customer service replaced it, but same thing keeps on happening. The frame picture feature is worthless, no matter how many pictures you upload it always shows the same ones. I wish I would have realized before I purchased it. Tons of people complaining of the same problem all over the internet. On spotify there is no option to write down the song or artist you are looking for which makes it super inconvenient.

The device functionality is actually pretty cool, when it works. But be prepared - it’s terrible in a mid-range WiFi area. You basically need it to sit right next to your router, which limits where you can actually use it. We placed ours in our kitchen, only one room away from our office where the router is, and all day long kept hearing pulsing sounds from the Portal as it disconnected and reconnected to the network. At first, Portal’s customer service was responsive and helpful, until I sent them a video of the problem and they handed me to one of the “technical experts” who basically repeated the same troubleshooting process as their frontline staff. Subpar product with subpar customer service. Wouldn’t buy again.

The Video conferencing is the only reason Im giving this one star otherwise this doesnt even worth the one star, Im upset of it because it lacks a lot of a very basic functionalities that are available on similar products, I use the echo show 2 all the time, and this device cant do 90% of what the echo show 2 can do. How could it be better? well the number one thing that I need to be able to use it is keyboard/mouse support. You can browse the web on this device, but with the touch screen its very annoying with the onscreen keyboard. Apps, very limited apps, not even a Facebook app, come on! Its totally locked, so you cant add apps from other sources. You cant do anything with the Camera, its only for calling someone on your Facebook friends list who also have to be on a mobile device or another portal, you cant communicate with a guy using Facebook from a laptop for example. You cant stream, take a picture, or use it as a mirror, because theres not camera app even. and the price, I got it on discount and Id kill my self if Ive bought it retail because it totally doesnt worth it. So again if you only want to video call someone who happen to have a portal, then this might be a good device for you if you intended to do a lot of video calls other wise dont bother.

I love it! It’s not a full service Alexa but I love it! We got the big one because my husband was deployed when our baby girl was only 5 months old she is able to clearly see daddy on the big screen and has made this so much better for all of us!
