With other drives like the Firecuda etc really pushing the limits of write and read speeds the Venom8 claiming to be even speedier crept in past all the others (kinda like a FAMTOM DRIVE hyuck hyuck) at a more reasonable price to boot and what is claimed here seems to not just be boasting. For the price point this is a top tier M2 SSD and will give whatever you slap this puppy into the juice you want. Of course like any other M2 drives installation is fairly simple if using this on PS5 just carefully remove your plates look for the M2 installation slot, remove the lid then remove the screw which should be by default where youre going to replace it after you carefully slide the drive into its slot (after applying recommended heatsink of your preference)...replace screw and ofcourse lid and enjoy the new storage you have....its literally dummy proof. A laptop or desktop should be just as simple. Moral being this is a well priced and powerful M2 and will make whatever you place it into sore like an eagle. Recommended highly...comes in a nice package too.

I ran out of space on my PS5 and this drive was just what I needed. It was easy to install thanks to the directions provided. The metal cover this comes with does look intimidating with its pointed spikes in the side. But it is harmless and that jagged side helps take it off if I ever need to. The drive is fast and cold. Happy to be able to install new games at hopefully a faster speed.

the kit was easy to use with clear instructions, we had no problems making the switch. new hd is working great and we are very happy! however i am taking off one star because the external hd case we got is faulty. (please note the flash drive gave us no problems, just the hd case) its a great concept and very convenient, being able to just pop in the old hard drive and have an external is great! but the external hd housing provided in our kit had a finicky connection, or some similar problem. we planned to use the old playstation hd as an external on our wiiU but had an entire afternoon and evening of frustration trying to get the hd to stay connected. it would just randomly disconnect and corrupt any data on the hd which required reformatting every time. we switched the old ps4 hd into another external casing to experiment and found that the problem lay in the casing itself. it had similar problems connecting to our laptops, the wiiU, and the ps4 regardless of which hd was installed. in the end not a huge loss since you can get a decent casing at a reasonable price, but it was kind of disappointing and frustrating that the provided equipment didnt function properly. overall still a good product though, the most important part for us (having more storage on the ps4) works flawlessly and so i would still recommend this product if you dont mind that the external case might not work.

I bought this kit due to reasonable price and the fact it provided everything I needed to upgrade, including instructions on the process. A few quick notes: 1. Before swapping drives, back up your PS4 to the USB drive and transfer to your computer (to make room for the install file). Once you install the drive and set up the PS4, you can go back to backup and restore using the USB drive and restore your saves and profiles for the PS4 (including guest accounts). 2. Download the full version of the system update, not the smaller file, as your PS4 will not recognize it and you will think youve just bricked your PS4. 3. This drive, though not an SSD or SSHD, is still faster than the factory HDD. I am speaking for the first gen PS4, I cannot say if it is faster than the PS4 Slim or PS4 Pro. 4. I have thirteen games currently installed on my PS4 after updating my HDD and still have 1TB and a little extra left. This absolutely helps when you hate deleting stuff just to make room for new games, especially when you have a lot of DLC or its a game that has had massive updates. 5. There are faster drives out there (SSD/SSHD) that are more expensive as well. This would be the budget option as far as storage is concerned. If you dont need the whole kit as I did, then you can spend less by simply buying the drive itself. I do appreciate that it comes with a casing and cable so that I can repurpose my old drive as a portable storage drive.

The only thing I can say about the installation process was that the instructions for removal of the PS5 outer cover was a little confusing but not hard to figure out. The rest of it was quite easy. Im satisfied with this product. No issues with performance or anything after 1 week of daily use.

I was looking for extra storage for my PS5 but I didn’t want to break my bank.Upon installing the drive and powering on my PS5 I found that everything worked flawlessly and the data transfer speeds were fast. I brought a separate heatsink, which it was cheaper for me, but still an easy install.

works mint once installed. super easy to remove the drive and install the new one, the trick is the software update part. On the web page that the included pamphlet sends you to, there is a download option right at the top of the page for the current update. This is not the file. This file is about 300,000 kb, the file you want for the install is further down the page, nearly the bottom. The file size for this is about 800,000 kb. You also have to create a couple of folders and move the file to the folders in the included memory stick, using your own personal computer. You need to do this first before you try updating the files from the memory stick into the newly installed drive. The details of this are all included in the pamphlet and easy to follow. Once the format is righted on the stick, exactly as stated in the instructions, install is a breeze. The other pain is having to reinstall all of your game data disc by disc or from the download store as a digital file before you can install all of your saved game data from a memory stick or the cloud. Playstation really dropped the ball with the default memory of just 500 gb, especially with all these new games coming out and the gigantic worlds. Having installed this first before I ever bought or downloaded any games at all would have been the move.
