CAT6, oxygen-free copper cable in a solid-feeling rubberized jacket with pro-quality cannon connectors (ethercon-type). This is one nice cable! I ordered it, to pair with Gearits 4-channel DMX/XLR Audio extender. This cable works perfectly. The cables cannon/ehtercon connectors click into the extender boxes, firmly- making for excellent, noise-free signal conduction. It is worth a mention that this cable is advertised and labeled as shielded. However, the specification for the shielding isnt stated. Because of this, I assume the cable is CAT6 F/UTP... which means the cable would consist of 4 unshielded twisted pairs, surrounded by an outer foil shield- just beneath the jacket. For shielding at the individual twisted pair level, the cable would have to be CAT6A. That said, this cable is robust, features pro-quality assembly, and yields pro-quality signal propagation. Id buy more.

I tested with stereo audio and mic signals over a TRS to ethercon adaptor. I did not observe issues with signals interfering with each other or with outside signal interference. The cable latched in and ejected from the adaptor units as expected with the press of a release button. Appears to be a fairly heavy duty cable. I did not notice any problems or issues with it and dont really see anything that would need changes either.

I missed the fact that its EtherCON capable. While does have std connectors, theyre inside a hard plastic housing so theres no way to plug them into a typical device such as a router or wall plate. Well, there is: I could unscrew and remove the end housing but that would leave the connector exposed and weakened, not how it was intended to be used. My fault for not paying enough attention. I will return this cable as I have no EtherCON connections to use it on. That said, it does appear to be a very high quality cable, no complaints about the that.

You might be unfamiliar with Ethercon cables. Electronically, theyre no different than your standard CAT6 RJ45 ethernet cable. The difference is the connector. And while most standard RJ45 cables will work with an Ethercon jack, the reverse is NOT true. Ethercon cables cant be used with most network cards, etc., as they have a far more robust retainer to make pulling them out more difficult. These are a part of GearITs ecosystem of devices, useful for audio snakes, carrying DMX for lighting, or AES for digital audio. These are situations where you DO NOT want a network cable to pull out accidentally, as it can set off an apocalyptic range of audio madness. The Ethercon connector prevents that. When its snapped in, youre protected against all but the most abusive situations. Theres only one word to describe GearITs version of the Ethercon cable. HARDCORE. As in almost overkill, but the confidence level in these holding up is100%. They come in varying lengths. I ordered the six, ten, and fifteen-foot versions. All are equally well built. So much so, I was actually quite surprised. On top of that, theyre very well packaged, with their website, tech support phone/email and hours of operation printed right on the bags. The product photos are accurate--thats exactly how they were delivered. This is a case where Id award ten stars if I could. Operation of the cable is flawless. Just phenomenally well constructed and presented. Cant beat that.

First off, this is great for its intended purpose. That is, a locking cable for compatible audio equipment. If youre like me and will use it for its intended purpose once per year, (or maybe you accidentally ordered this) you can just take the locking cap off and use it anywhere. When you need the cap, just put it back on. You wont hurt anything by taking it off. If you need to do that, just unscrew it until you can pop the end of the cap right off. Then pull back the back side of the locking mechanism (the part still on the cable) so its out of the way, then pull that blue part back to release the tab on the RJ45, and finally just push the blue part back, under the tab. Bam, you have a high quality CAT6 cable you can use anywhere. Mine is on my PS5 right now. It works great.

I’ve only recently discovered Ethercon technology and started using it with the drum kit in my home studio. Unlike regular XLR snakes with their large boxes and unruly diameter cables, EC extenders are very compact yet still pass audio signals transparently. This particular cable has rugged jacketing with solid, tight fitting connectors. Its stress reliefs are sufficient, and also have serrated surfaces for a better grip. Even using a combination of dynamic and condenser microphones in the same pair of extenders I couldn’t detect any signal degradation whatsoever, no doubt in part to the use of CAT6 connectivity which depending on length supports data transfer speeds up to 10Gbps. It also carries phantom power without any sort of external power supply required. Note that it’s a very bad idea to attempt using a standard CAT6 Ethernet cable between EC extender boxes, as most have insufficient shielding which will create line noise and worse likely not support phantom power. That said, to avoid possible headaches I’d suggest picking up a cable that’s specifically designed for EC use, and this one certainly fits the bill.
