> 3 dayOkay i want to start off this review by saying this isnt my first Giro helmet, probably wont be the last, I love these helmets they provide great protection especially when you wipe out a lot, This is my second fixture helmet, this time with Mips, my last one lasted 4 crashes which is crazy because i use to replace walmart helmets left and right, I have been riding for 12 years and over that period of time the Giro helmets are the best quality / protection / comfort for the price. For 55 bucks you really cant go wrong with this bad boy especially with MIPS, this is my first helmet with mips and i cannot atest to how much better it really makes the helmet, but for the extra 15 dollars i figured worst case senario it does come in handy one day you know. Its better to have too much than too little in terms of protection with a helmet. As always i love Giro i feel they make great stuff for MTB bikers at a great price as well.

Greater than one weekNice helmet. But my head is more rectangular than found. But I shimmed the sides with large ,stick on, furniture glide pads (felt) and it fits great. Very happy with the helmet.

> 3 dayWhen a friend chastised me for keeping my chinstrap very loose, I said it was just too uncomfortable that way. The longer I road, the more it annoyed me, to wear I would hate biking, and avoid it. So I compromised--always wearing the helmet, but with the strap loose. He explained that I might as well not be wearing it. Id get minimal protection, but it was nearly the same as no helmet, so I was riding unprotected. And one brain injury could doom me for life. What I realized was that Id just wasted that money buying a cheap helmet, because Id effectively bought almost no helmet. Comfort = safety if it gets you to wear it, and wear it right. I was kind of skeptical that a more comfortable helmet would make a huge difference, or that the change would be that noticeable. Wow. I put it on my head, and it felt fine. What I discovered was the other helmet was irritating me regardless, so adding one more irritation with the strap was kind of over my tolerance limit. And the strap itself was uncomfortable, but it also cinched the annoying helmet tighter against my skull, irritating it more. This one feels like barely having it on. I love it, and wearing it properly every day. (Plus, while researching, I learned about the new (newish?) MIPS system, and I have no idea how much difference it makes, but the price bump was only about $10, so if it might save my head, best money I ever spent. Ive had it about 2 months now, and still loving it. (Its well-ventilated and cool, too. I guess I mention that last, because my cheap model had that too, so Ive not experienced a big change. When I opened the Giro package, my buddy said, They look the same! The older one was clearly a knockoff, so they got the ventilation right, but not much else.

Greater than one weekFits my head great, sits on it properly at the right angle. The chin strap is a little tight when I look down, but it’s not really an issue; also, you want a chin strap to not come off so I’m good with that. Adjustable headband is great, the steps are good to adjust to being snug but comfortable. Not a super nerdy-looking helmet and has a good visor, both pluses.

> 3 dayMy only problem with what is an otherwise great helmet is that the online photos do not accurately represent the color, as I realized when I pulled mine out of the box. Giros Matte Grey is actually a much lighter gray than what I saw online. The product I received may be something more akin to what is often referred to as dove gray. And no, Im not the Spandex type. I guess I just figure if Im going to have to wear something as dorky-looking as a bike helmet, I want to at least make it a cool one. And for that I have to hand it to Giro, as their current helmets seem to eschew the standard Rocket Boy/Speed Racer shiny-object look you see in most helmets. I mean, really. Does it make any difference that a bike helmet looks like it was developed in a wind tunnel when Im riding around at 10 mph? And with the wind resistance of MY body? Those aerodynamic helmets are only going to send me flying into a telephone pole that much faster in the event of an accident. (And all this makes it seem like all I care about is leaving a great-looking corpse. Not true.) Anyhow, being a former graphic designer and well-versed in the difficulty of accurate color on web images, I understand how this can happen. My suspicion is that, along with possibly several of the other colors in the line, for their Matte Grey, Giro didnt photograph an actual Matte Grey helmet–which would likely be much more expensive–but rather started with a blank or another lighter color helmet and added, perhaps in Photoshop, a web color they thought would translate online as their Matte Grey. Its a common practice among online retailers, and may be the best solution available, given the need to allow for the lowest-common-denominator computer upon which their products will be viewed. Call it the Red Riding Hood syndrome: On computers like my Mac it will appear too light; on really crappy computers it will appear too dark; but maybe on the vast majority–the average home computer–it will be just right. So I packed it right back up for return and ordered the Matte Black. Not as cool, not as sophisticated as what I thought Id end up with, but oh well.

> 3 dayThis helmet is a great bang for buck! This is my second one because I crashed with my first one. My first helmet did a great job protecting my head. I had crashed and hit my head hard on a rock. I literally felt my neck and head whip into the rock. the interesting part was on impact. Maybe it was the adrenaline, but, I didnt feel a thing. I got up and rode home. No headaches after either.

> 3 dayI work for amazon biking delivery in NYC. So, I wear this 40 hours a week. Its padding isnt the best but it breathes well. I have long hair it does get caught in between the Frame and the helmets yellow tabs. The helmet is sturdy in terms of banging your head on things on deliveries like the doorman carts.

> 3 dayMinor issue where some of the cushion inside the helmet can get loose and fall off if youre not careful. Could have been velcroed better. Still, the helmet itself is excellent.
