Grabbit Magnetic Sewing Pincushion with 50 Plastic Head Pins, Black

I love this thing. Why didnt I buy one years ago? Probably because I dont do a lot of sewing. But every time I do, keeping track of the pins is always a problem. And I live in fear of dropping them on the carpet and being unable to find them. This makes it so easy to grab pins when you need them and toss them back when you dont. The wide flat area is great because you dont even have to be really accurate when you drop the pins onto it. This definitely qualifies as one of those gosh I wish I had thought of this idea years ago items.

This is my second Grabbit, and there will be more, one for each kind of pins I routinely use. Its so much easier to pick up or put back a pin from a magnetic holder than a box, wrist pin cushion, etc. that Im never going back. The pins that come with it are also nice quality, although there arent a lot of them. Right now, with two of these going, I tend to leave my two main kinds of pins on the Grabbit, with more in a small plastic lidded box if I have a whole lot of that type of pin. But itll be easy to sweep them all into another container if I need to use the Grabbit for specialty pins. If you sew, quilt, or craft using pins, you want this.

This item has been a life saver. I did not like pushing pins into the cushion as I removed them from my garments. I used to use a small cup but I tisked knocking it over. With the grabbit being magnetic i just about drop the pins close to or directly on top and they stay put. This is extremely helpful if like me, you remove pins quickly as you sew and have no time to neatly place it in a pin cushion. The grabbit is awesome and I no longer rely on a pin cushion or cup.

I sew in several rooms in my house, this is so convenient that I always go get it from the other room. As a new sewer this is my best buy so far.

I used the same magnetic pincushion since the 80s, that is until I knocked it off the table one too many times and broke it. I replaced it with two Grabbits, black and teal, so I could have one at my sewing machine and the other by my coverstitch. These are every bit as nice and heavy as my vintage one. Toss the pins to the Grabbit as you sew and they go right in, all lined up the same direction as they should. To prevent knocking them off my tables I bought two textured jar openers (from Amazon) to put underneath to keep them from sliding. Works great!

I have used this item for years and would never consider being with out a couple of them. I do a lot of sewing and quilting so I have one by my sewing machine and one on my sewing table. I never have to look for pins nor do I have to worry that they may have been brushed off onto the floor. The only reason I ordered two new ones was that after 20 plus years with my old ones I wanted a new color. Since my old ones work just as well as the first day I bought them I will give be giving my old ones to my grand daughter.

I recently received the 2nd Grabbit Magnetic pin cushion I ordered and am sorry I waited this long to get another one. It is invaluable for anyone who works with small metal pieces and parts ie pins for sewing, nails and tacks for woodworking, anything you do NOT want to hunt down and tediously pick up one by one. This is a very simple product, but it is one of THE BEST I have seen or used! As someone else said, I use one to pin and one by my machine while sewing to [literally] toss the pins I remove and it seems even if MY aim is off, the Grabbit gets the pin every time. I have also used it while restoring furniture when using lots of tiny brads and any man would LOVE this in his workshop. The price was lower than a quilting/sewing shop or site, item was well packaged and arrived sooner than I expected. I have nothing but good to say about this purchase. I do have to keep my Grabbits hidden from the grandchildren, especially the boys, because the 4 of them think this is fascinating and lots of fun to play with. Hmmm, can I get off cheap for birthdays and Christmas this year....?;)
