This game is such a big hit at parties!! So fun! Especially the Yo Ho Ho part. My husbands favorite game. Definitely recommend!

This game is perfect. We have a game group at work and play a ton of games on breaks. This is by far the favorite. We bought the updated version and it made a great game even better. If you are not familiar with trick taking games I’d buy the updated version but wouldn’t play with the expansion cards (kraken, Mermaids, and coins) until I learn the base game and develope strategy. Don’t mistake what I’m saying as this game being complicated, it’s not, but you will want to obtain a feel for the play. Seriously buy this game.

I LOVE THIS GAME! It really is fun to try to out-scheme your opponents and I only played with 2 players! This may be my favorite of the Grandpa Beck series!!

I bought this during first week of January 2021. It is now 4 months later and we’ve already played it 52 times! I’ve also given it as a gift twice, and intend to use this as my go-to gift. The whole family loves playing this, from my usually not game enthusiast husband, to my teen, and my 11 year old who requests to play this nearly every evening! Things were a little tricky to score until we realized two things: 1) if you don’t get your bid right, nothing else matters—no bonuses unless your bid is correct. 2) if you can play a pirate or an expansion card (expansion included), you don’t have to follow suit. The game is great because there are so many ways to win. No one is ever really out because one round can be a game changer. My 11 year old will sometimes play to thwart another, even if she ends up losing the round—she has fun losing “epically.” Basically, you guess how many tricks you’ll win during the round. If you succeed, you win points—even if you bid that you would win 0 tricks. If you fail your bid, you lose points. Along the way there are many opportunities for bonus points, but if you don’t meet your bid bonuses don’t count. Start with the base game, then work in the expansion and the pirate superpowers. We were playing and enjoying the expansion and all it offers within 2 weeks of our first play. This is and absolutely fabulous game! Buy it, you won’t regret it!
