Hillsdale Montello 32-Inch Swivel Bar Stool, Old Steel Finish with Faux Brown Leather

Four out of five because it was NOT as advertised and in the picture given, it was impossible to tell. The shipping, packaging and assembly were all fine as was the price. We got this stool to match our singleton which was the same size (28) and make as this advertised one. My research found plenty of examples at TWICE the price before looking at Amazon. In fact, the one we had already was bought from a consignment store for less than $100! My gripe was that nowhere on the description of this stool did it say leather back. The original stool has a distressed wooden back, not leather! Also the color if the faux leather seat is a little off and doesnt match the other stool. Ill try and provide side-by-side photos which will reveal these points. However, it is sturdy and will work for us. One final comment: the plastic wrapping around the seat was difficult to remove as others have noted. Other than that, a happy Amazon customer.

This review may seem a little contradictory since this chair is very nice looking, and appears to be built very sturdy. Actually, I would have easily given this chair a 5 star review with the exception of one major issue. The back of the chair does not angle back as any normal chair usually does, and this practically 90 degree angle causes much difficulty. When sitting in the chair, you will have a tendency to slide forward, and this action over an extended period of time could result in back pain. Its very unfortunate that this design flaw has not been brought to the attention of the manufacturer, because if the back of the chair would be redesigned and adjusted properly, it would be a great buy, since it is obvious that this could be corrected with a minimal amount of effort. Almost any chair that you look at, you will see that the back of the chair is not at a 90 degree angle to the seat. Money is being lost, & time is being wasted by not dealing with this issue. Amazon representatives should step to the plate, and inform the manufacturer that an adjustment is required. You will be glad that you did, as you will have more satisfied customers, and more profits in your pocket. No matter what the outcome, I am wishing good luck to all concerned. Perhaps if you try the chair, you might disagree with my evaluation. It is exquisite looking, and well worth the price if you can avoid the feeling of sliding forward, creating potential back issues that may follow.

I have been looking at bar stools for our kitchen for quite awhile. These stools are an unbelievable buy. They are high quality with very easy, minimal assembly (5 minutes). They are lovely and I am more than happy with this purchase. Also the shipping was very fast.

This is a purchase you hesitate a bit making since it is fairly pricey, and you cant see it in person first. Based on the reviews, it seemed like a safe bet and it definitely is. Great quality, and even better looking than the pictures. Only gripe was pulling off some of the protective plastic wrap was a pain in a few spots. Well worth the money overall.

Great stools. Lighter than they look. Great 360 degree swivel. Strong seat back. The faux leather is fine and looks very good. My only gripe, and its a small one, is that the foot stabilizer circle is a little low for me fee to hang on.

Initially bought the 32 stools but returned for the 28 and it looks much better. My breakfast bar is only 40 high for the photo comparisons. As a helpful tip for those who open the package questioning the plastic on and under the seat- it only takes about 1 minute to remove. All you need to do is loosen the 4 screws that require the *phillips* screwdriver. You dont have to remove them, just loosen them enough to the point you can wiggle the plastic wrap off. Dont even bother trying to loosen the hex attached screws that are already attached to the base as it wont get you anywhere ;) Then its just a matter of putting on the 4 screws using the hex tool to attach the top to the bottom. Hope you enjoy as much as we have!!

Very good looking chair. Good quality so far with the exception of the stain on the top part which scuffs very easily.

The seat height was perfect for my island that sits atop standard sized floor cabinets. The cushions are not especially plush and 1 of the 3 I ordered sloped forward slightly. Other than that they seem very sturdy, swivel easily and look great.

These chairs are beautiful! I purchased them for my breakfast bar and was thrilled when they arrived - they arrived the very next day! - high quality, elegant - look beautiful in my kitchen. I have never seen any that look better, and they are sooo comfortable to sit on. I am updating this review over a year later - and these chairs are still in perfect condition! They are lovely. I have always been soooo happy that I bought them.

We bought four of these for stools for our breakfast bar which is 45 inches high. The delivery was very fast and the stools were very easy to put together. I found that by loosening the screws the plastic came off the chairs very easy. I put them together by myself. They do lean forward a little when setting on them though we did not find this a problem.
