Hillsdale Montello 32-Inch Swivel Bar Stool, Old Steel Finish with Faux Brown Leather

We had an extra high kitchen counter in our new house and needed a higher than average stool. We searched for weeks and liked the Hillsdale Montello swivel stool. After getting the shipment....we were very happy with the sturdiness and quality of the stool. Of course nothing is always perfect, and one stool was delivered damaged, but Hillsdale was totally accommadating with exchange and replacement and very professional. It was a great buying experience. Thanks Hillsdale.

We looked everywhere for seats higher than the 30 standard height for a higher counter. These are perfect! They are substantial without being bulky, comfortable and nicely finished. Easy to assemble too! Only drawback was removing the plastic wrap around the seat ... a pain to get it all off.

I bought six of these bar height swivel stools. They are perfect. They are light, easy to assemble, and look great. I have a custom-made steampunk bar height dining room table that I have been struggling to buy chairs for and these work perfectly. The price was right, it didnt take long to receive them, and the delivery was easy. The only complaint I have is how they were packaged. As you can imagine they fit better in the box with the seat turned upside down with the backrest against the legs, and that is exactly how they were shipped. As I pulled the first one out of the box I couldnt figure out why the legs were coming along with the seat until I saw that it was (unnecessarily) zip tied with a single zip tie to the legs. I had to cut the zip tie to get the seat out. All but one of the stools had one or more zip ties attaching the seat to the legs.

I am very happy after several months with my stools. They are heavy and sturdy. The look great and I find them very comfortable. I did add floor protectors on the feet to save my hardwood because I think they would have scratched without it. I recommend them whole heartedly.

I bought 2 initially to see if we liked them. They are more than we expected. Height is perfect for our bar top and the stools are gorgeous. I just ordered 2 more and hope they match and are the same quality as the ones we just received.

Beautiful chair. This is so well constructed. Weld seams are strong and look nice. I am replacing a twelve year old set of chairs that I dearly love. I have the old set zip tied together because so many welds have simply failed over the years. It was finally time to say goodbye to them. I was so pleased with the quality construction on this new chair. Much stronger welds. Better than is standard on the market today. I compared a lot of chairs before settling on this one. The vinyl seat is easily washable. It has a slight texture to it and a subtle color variance that makes it look more like real leather. The top wood looking piece on the back of the chair is also textured. It is very solid and does not wiggle at all where it is attached by screws to the metal frame. The swivel function is not free swinging. It requires some downward weight in the chair and an intentional push to swivel the seat. That is nice. My old chairs were more free swinging and often little fingers would get smashed unintentionally between the chair back and the counter top. As for the color of the metal. It has a very golden cast to the metal. It is not a true age bronze/black/gray look. I have gold flecks in my granite surfaces that tend to make this chair look gold. I might consider painting them black, but other than the color issue, I think this is an amazingly well made and nice looking chair.

Chair is well made... base and seat are both very sturdy. All 4 legs of the base are level - the chair doesnt wobble on a level surface. Cushion is comfortable. The chairs I received did not come with the bolts to attach the seat to the base, but assembly was easy after a quick trip to the hardware store. Actual product looked exactly like the photo and all 3 chairs ordered looked the same in both fit and finish. Good product overall... great value.

My husband and I are thrilled with these bar stools. I have not seen anything else come close in quality for this price, and I spent a lot of time looking! One thing to mention: The Old Steel Finish actually was a little more bronze in color than the pictures. For us, that was a big plus; hopefully that will be helpful to someone else considering these stools. One other item to be aware of: The seat is truly 32 off the floor.....many bar stools are 30, so if you are vertically challenged, that may be an issue. Once again, we are very happy with both the appearance, and the sturdy feel of these stools.

Very easy to assemble. Looks great! FYI. The hardware is in the box, at the very bottom under the styrofoam. It looks like a piece of transparent orange tape. Enjoy!

One of the bar stools appeared to be used. It had a black tar on the foot rest in the perfect places for shoes. I tried using Goo Gone and it wouldnt come off. The rubber tips on the bottom of the stool were also warn. I had 11 bar stools to start with and sold 8 in my spec homes so I ordered these bar stools to replace ones that I had sold so as I was not happy to get a used bar stool I still had 3 that I have had for awhile so I am OK with it. The other 7 bar stools were fine. Matched the ones I already had perfectly.
