Greater than one weekNote: there are 2 pictures on Amazon of this system. One shows it with the transformer: correct. The other shows it with the battery: not correct. You will need to buy a battery. I ordered our system from Alarm Liquidators, great price, fast shipping, got version 10.23, which supports the 6162 keypad menu programming. We love this system! We bought it to replace a proprietary system that we got tired of not having control over, especially when they remotely locked the panel and disarmed the alarm while we were on vacation! It was no trouble at all to replace: we just swapped out the panel, the keypads, and the horn. Programming is not super easy, but it is straightforward, and there are lots of Youtube videos out there that will walk you through the process. Also, the programming manual comes with the unit, and it is complete. I got a 6160RF keypad, and also a 6162RF. I mistakenly thought I wouldnt be able to easily program the system with the 6162, but thats not correct. The 6162 keypad is very nice looking. (Both are totally functional, however.) Now we can make any changes or repairs needed ourselves, at reasonable prices, and we can choose our own monitoring company, at good savings. There were no frustrations at all programming and hooking up this system. Others have mentioned: connect the resistor to Zone 1 before you power it up, or youll get a fire alarm, very noisy! Also, if you are replacing an existing panel, it would be helpful to label the wires as you pull them off, so you know whats connected to where.

Greater than one weekIts a great panel with a lot of potential if youre looking for a great system that can also be tied in to your automation system and is extremely user friendly however you will not get any support directly from honeywell unless you work for a company but there are plenty of companies out there that have very experienced technicians and would be more than willing to help you over all its a great system with a lot of potential would recommend it a thousand times over

> 3 dayThe metal can is cheap - metal too thin. It deforms and door wont stay closed. Previous purchase from years ago included stronger can

> 3 dayIm a pro and Honeywell is incredibly easy to program after youve installed your first 20 or 30 systems. So novices beware and cram with YouTube videos to make progress. Someone said it was designed to be difficult to program but they dont realize it was NEVER intended to be a consumer installed product and frankly you can get robbed or lose your house to a fire just by making one of any number of tiny programming mistakes. It was not designed to be foolproof it was designed and slowly upgraded over many years for professionals (I didnt say rocket scientists-just pros). Some newer gen products are better suited to novice installers but Honeywell products are at least very reliable in my experience.

> 3 dayThis was easy to set up for fire and security. It replaced an older panel that was just being used for security and was not communicating with a central station..Connected the existing security zones and changed the end of line resistors. I added two wire smoke detectors and then connected it to a central station. It works really good and we are very pleased. I added a siren driver and speakers for the audible alarm. I also used the 6160RF keypad just in case in the future we would want to add some wireless devices. We used a regular 6160 keypad for the timed entry-exit door. We did not try the voice feature as my wife didnt want it activated. This is a good cost effective fire-security panel for most homes or a small business.
