Honeywell VISTA-20P Ademco Control Panel, PCB in Aluminum Enclosure

Needed to replace defective panel

Very recently priced. My original vista 15 died, it was an easy upgrade to the Vista 20. I used all my existing wiring and equipment.

Tore the old system out, stuck this in, reconnected the wires as they were in the old box and Im up and running. Simple and works well, why would anyone that can DIY pay others to do this?

If youre not adverse to a little trial and error this system isnt all that difficult to install. Once you get the hang of expected keystrokes you catch on pretty fast. There are also plenty of articles on the web to help you along. Youll need a 6160 keypad or similar for setup. A 6150 wont do.

I use this product as a local alarm/self monitored system for my home. The whole thing isnt really meant for those who are not willing to put the time and effort into something like this. While I was upgrading my older system to this, youtube came along and helped me as well. Once you get the wiring done, and you dont understand the programming guide, there are plenty of videos out there on youtube of how to program and understand what it means. Just type in something like Honeywell Vista 20p programming (The vista 15p is the same but with 2 less zones) **I want to give a heads up with programming you MUST have at least an alpha keypad to program. Keypads like the honeywell 6160 will do just fine. This is because the screen can show words and letters so you can understand what your programming. It is harder with the just numeric keypads like the 6150. If you can do all of that, your in luck my friend, youve found yourself a great security system.

A High quality system that is affordable. Install is not an easy DIY, but well worth the effort and research. The cost was less than $400.00. I used The 6160 Display and hard wired six magnetic sensors, one motion and one smoke detector. Programming was a little tough but after reading through the manual a few times and YouTube videos, I works fantastic.

If you are a professional alarm installer then I guess this thing is just peachy. If not, you are probably out of luck. I have read and re-read the book a dozen times. I have watched hours of video online. I have beat my damned brains out trying to get it to work. The instructions are NOT user friendly at all. There is no glossary of terms and believe me there are many you must know and comprehend to be able to program it. The instructions assume that you already have knowledge of alarm systems. Everything is abbreviated, both in the book and on the panel display. You will find yourself wandering aimlessly through the book for clarification of a term, function, or device at the most inopportune times. I suggest you download the PDF manual from Ademco and read it before you buy this monstrosity. If you find yourself confused after that DO NOT buy the system. I have added a snip from the manual as am example of what you will be dealing with(see photo).

Item was easy to install. But you have to have the correct keypad as others mentioned.
