I installed a tow package on my Dodge Grand Caravan and needed the ability to connect a 7 round RV plug to my vehicle when towing my pop-up camper. This Hopkins 47185 Multi-Tow adapter was perfect for me because it allows you to easily have both the 7 round and 4 flat connections easily accessible. Everything necessary for the installation was included, and it took almost no time at all for me to install this device on my vehicle. I have used it multiple times since installing, and it has worked flawlessly. Highly recommend!

Plugs into an existing 4-flat for lights if you have one in place, or that connector can be cut off and the wires individually spliced. The other three wires, for brakes, back-up and 12v have to be spliced. It comes with butt splices. You have to know what you’re doing. If you have a vehicle that has separate trailer light wiring and a connector underneath, like GM trucks and Suburbans, you would be much better off getting a connector made to connect to your specific brand of vehicle, and avoid splices altogether.

Worked great for over a year until the round cover broke off. There arent a lot of choices with the 7 and 4 prong plug ins. I bought it again. Will be very careful. I have a different brand one on my pickup. Its 25 years old. Hasnt broken. They dont make things to last anymore.

Labeled like new, but was obviously broken.

My installation was a little different than the normal hookup since I wanted to do four things: 1) tow a small trailer w/o brakes, 2) be able to tow a trailer with brakes using a brake controller, 3) provide power to operate a macerater pump for transferring black water, and 4) provide power to operate a power lift to help load and unload the back of the minivan. Therefore, I needed a little heavier wire to the back of the minivan, but otherwise the hookup was the same. The only thing I did differently than suggested in the package was to mount the plugs on the bumper rather than on the hitch - that was a mistake, since the angle bracket has taken some damage that it would not have experienced had it been attached to the hitch. My requirements 1) and 2) were very well taken care of by the adapter package. I run a separate black wire for ground rather than use the frame of the vehicle and, like I said, due to my load requirements, I needed heavier wire. I used the black wire from the adapter as my blue wire for the electric brake support. Unfortunately, my macerater pump uses the center wire (the one marked backup lights - purple) as an auxiliary power. If I get time, I will switch that to use the black wire (aux) which seems to be more suitable, but for now that is is how it is. The heaviest user of power is the power lift. It uses 30 amps of 12 vdc, so the wires (red for positive and black for negative battery were run to it first and then Td to the other operations (one for the power brakes (2) and one for the macerater (3). Since the lift does not operate during travel and would not be in use while the macerater is running, the power is shared among them as well as the lights for the trailers (both 1) and 2) ). I had installed the standard 4-wire small trailer package which is a prerequisite for this products installation. It all works like a charm.

Ive wired in a lot on a lot of cars the 7way is awesome for your camper and the 4 flat is nice to rent or if you have both stile trailers like me just back up plug in and hook up and go other then trying to find you 7 to 4 adapter you let a friend use so you got to buy anather and always use dielectricel grease on the wires and plugs and you will never have a problem with the ends by the way those 7 way to 4 flat adapters burn out this plug if kept up will last the life of a car

    Greater than one week

The product is as described, easy to install and does the job. The mounting bracket it comes with is garbage and its surprising someone thought it would be acceptable to ship the product with it.

What arrived was exactly what I ordered. There is quite a price range on similar product and I went to the center as this is for my 1999 Dodge Durango that I use only to launch my boat. What I got was impressive for the price. Everything for a complete install was included (bracket, unit, wiring, screws, etc.) and the quality is good. I wasnt expecting the leads to be sealed (wax like substance to fight water/corrosion) and this is a bonus for guys like me (again, the Dodge stays at the lake snapped to the boat and is used to launch/retrieve the boat). Also, the leads at the other end (where the wiring connects to the tow vehicle) came pre-assembled with butt connectors already attached. Not only do you not have to supply the connectors to install (I know, not a huge expense but just to call it out), but what a snap to connect to your vehicle. Just put your tow vehicle wires in and crimp. Nice! The wiring is a quality grade and the bracket is sturdy. If you are price shopping and you choose this one, expect to get more than you paid for relatively speaking.

This connector is amazing. I originally bought the Hopkins 7 blade trailer connector from my local tractor supply store. JUST the 7 blade, and it costed me $30. This is the 7 blade and 4 pin for just $14 how can you beat that? Everything is quality. Mounting is very easy and pre-drilling 2 holes is required. The only thing I have to say about this that was kind of workful was the wiring, but I cant take away a star because this thing is universal for many vehicles. I have a 2005 Tacoma and the only wires that color code matched were black, white, and blue. I had to expose the rest of the wires and match them by hooking up to a trailer and testing the blinkers and brakes to the corresponding wires. This was very easy with another person helping, it took me about 5 minutes. Overall I highly, highly recommend this product to anyone in need of a new trailer connector.
