Greater than one weekI love these dyes! Forget RIT, these dyes work so much better and have really vibrant colors! FOr your basic the dye t-shirts, its really important to soak your item in baking soda water first, then wrap wet, dyed item it up in a plastic bag and let it sit for a day or two or more before rinsing.

> 3 dayThis is a great little kit for getting started ice dying. I was able to dye 2 shirts and a large piece of fabric and I still have a lot of dye and the soaking medium left. The colors turned out vibrant and they seem to hold true through multiple washes.

> 3 dayI used this kit for the first time today. I wanted to create a custom shade of green for a quilting project Im presently working on. The dye powder mixes very readily with water (you need to create a sort of liquid concentrate in a cup, and then mix that into your dye bath). You will not find any detailed information in the packaging, but Jacquard has a lot of information on their web site for how-to and color mixing. I suggest getting the needed info and printing it out for a ready reference. The fabric I dyed is 100% cotton; the color is vibrant, and though I used a large stockpot for the dye bath, it was not necessary to put it on the stove. The color set beautifully in moderately hot tap water. I did notice that the turquoise seems to be more intense than the yellow, so I used only a tiny amount to create a spring green. A touch of black was added to make it a slightly darker shade. I will probably find myself buying more of the yellow dye separately, as most of my dye projects use colors which contains yellow. Ill likely buy the soda ash in a larger package for future jobs as well. This is a great starter package for becoming familiar with reactive dye. I wanted to see if this method was one Id stick with, and the kit has served that purpose well.

> 3 dayThis is a fun and inexpensive way to achieve textured and tonal looks. Batik is $13+ a yard. I can make it for $4 a yard. Always exciting to see how it turns out. Sheila

> 3 dayThe kit comes with the dyes and chemicals for a good tie dye experience. You will need to get your 100% cotton clothing items and assemble the rubber bands, soaking tubs, bottles, etc so its something of a process. I do this outside with my family every year when they are here for vacation and its always fun - and we wear the clothes throughout the year. As they say, theres no mistakes in tie dye and this kit helps make that true.

Greater than one weekMessy. Fun. I recommend this to anyone wanting to give tie dye a try. For the price, youre better off buying 1 or 2 of these, some empty squirt bottles, and a small box of latex gloves. However, if youve never tie dyed before, one of Jacquards kits is a great start. This is more for round 2, when youre determined to get your shirts to come out how you had pictured them coming out in your head prior to starting. The powder allows you to mix as much dye as needed, which is quite a bit more than youll get with a starter kit.
