Used this set for a tie dye party for young girls. With the colors available, we were able mix in order to make an entire rainbow of colors (instead of buying all the colors separately). Theres an online table that recommends the mixing ratios for better results. Used ketchup style squeeze bottles for application, and the end results were perfect. Colors were vibrant (per other reviews I used double the amount recommended on the package when mixing). I havent had many problems with bleeding after the fact. Set was enough to make about 15 child-size garments, and we didnt even use the black.

i should have paid more attention to the reviews. The red color is very strong and the blue is weak, should have adjusted my mixes. The color has not faded after 3 or 4 washes. Good dye, easy to work with. Not quite the same colors as the Jaquard tie dye kit, the magenta is redder and the turquoise is lighter, less strong so doesnt make a really good purple cuz the magenta was too strong. Will adjust this mix next time.

I am always creating tie dye pieces of clothing and Jacquard Procion dyes never disappoint. Using the soda ash and soaking your items first helps to maintain the beautiful and bright colors! These materials are easy to use... all you need to do is to follow the directions and you will have some amazing tie dye pieces!!!

I decided to ice/snow dye (using shredded ice) about 8 old white teeshirts in hopes to upcycle them into pajamas for my kids. This kit worked pretty well. Things to note: -I used a big 5 gallon bucket, 1/3 cup of the ash, and about 3 gallons of water to soak shirts in first. Still had lots of ash left. -For those shirts, I felt like I used quite a bit of the dye. Im not positive though because the dye isnt a full container when you open it (typical room for air, they were as full as I wouldve expected). -Use a mask and preferably do this outside. I used a mask but still felt a bit lightheaded, even though I couldnt smell anything. Maybe I was just overtired or maybe it was the powder/dyes. -I assume you can do regular dyeing with this, but I was trying to do ice dyeing... basically you put down fabric, then cover with ice, then put dye on top of that. Because the ice all melts at a bit different rate, youll get interesting colors and patterns. Im excited. I actually mixed regular ice cubes with shredded ice too. Youll use a LOT of ice for this... if you dont have an ice maker in your fridge then youll want to buy bags of ice. I used ALL the ice in my freezer bin (ice maker) and still wish Id had more. Next time Ill probably empty the ice bin into a bucket and put in our big freezer, wait for it to make more, then use both bins worth. -Im looking forward to snow season because Ill probably retry this with snow instead of ice. -I let it sit for 24 hours. I think it might be better to be left on longer, but Im not positive. Make sure you use enough dye. -I did this in my bath tub, but it dyed a bit of the bathtub in the areas that were right under the tray I had them on. I recommend putting something down... I knew better before I did this, but did it anyways. Next time, Ill put something down first. Ill have pictures of the results on my blog eventually which is linked in my profile if you want to see how it comes out.

Messy. Fun. I recommend this to anyone wanting to give tie dye a try. For the price, youre better off buying 1 or 2 of these, some empty squirt bottles, and a small box of latex gloves. However, if youve never tie dyed before, one of Jacquards kits is a great start. This is more for round 2, when youre determined to get your shirts to come out how you had pictured them coming out in your head prior to starting. The powder allows you to mix as much dye as needed, which is quite a bit more than youll get with a starter kit.

Ive been ice dying with these powders. I used them on animal fibers with vinegar and I used them on plant fibers with soda ash. Beautiful pieces!!!
