Oil soaked in nicely overnight but cream seemed mostly to sit on top judging from the number of paper towels required to wipe off “excess.” Hard to determine actual benefit of treatment outside of shinier appearance.

Since I love to cook and have Global and Wusthol knives, I had started to look for a good cutting board. As it turns out, my roommate has a cutting board that was made for him by a high school class whose teacher served with him in the Marines. The board has feet, is 1-1/2 inches thick and is 12 x 18. He had no idea what he had and had stuck it in a cupboard under the stove. I had a handyman sand it down since someone had gauged it with a knife. Although he went ahead and oiled it and put cream on it, I started using the Boos Mystery Oil. I could be wrong but I think the proper way to do this is to squirt a lot on the board and use your hand to spread it around. I think I wasted some time in using a paper towel to do this because I was simply not leaving enough on the board. There will probably be places that soak up the oil faster than others. Just go back and spread it around some more. I am also using it on the underside of the board along with the feet. Do not ignore the edges. That is probably where it will start to warp if at all. Anyway, I am just going to keep adding the oil until the board cannot absorb more and then use the cream. I will then maintain once a month. I read where someone said that it was a chore to do this. Huh? It is actually relaxing and enjoyable to see it deepen in color. I am sorry that some people appear to have received counterfeit versions of this based on their reviews. Mine were perfect and do not have any odor. I really could not be happier with the product. When I move and have to give up this cuting board, I am sure I will buy a John Boos walnut and maple block.

I should have purchased this years ago. Always used the oil but the sponge and cream are even better. Lasts a long time.

Great product! I have butcher block countertops and have tried a few different conditioners. This one is in my top two. My countertops look gorgeous and repel water really well. Very happy with this. I have only used this once so far as I just got it, so I am not sure how long it lasts, etc.

Nice kit! We used the oil first then cream 2 days later. Easy to apply, plenty for the next 2 times, and the brush is cute and functional.
