Being the first time I have used this I didnt know what to expect. Was it going to be hard to install? Would I hear a sound improvement? I was watching videos of people installing it and they said to let it heat up in the sun. There is a point when it gets a bit to hot and it flops around and is super sticky. I was putting this in the door panels of a 2019 Honda Civic 2dr. Not a lot of room to work with and it wants to stick to every little thing it touches. Not a bad thing but just takes more care to get it in there. I did the bottom 2/3 of the doors. Now when you tap on the doors its just a thud. Overall sound from the stereo was improved. The low notes are now MUCH cleaner! The bass guitar sounds like a bass guitar and not just some humming low note. Same goes for the bass drum. Much more defined and musical. I cant say anything about noise reduction from outside the car yet because I just havent driven the car enough. So for under $50 its worth it in my opinion.

Used it for my 1971 vw beetle. The engine noises reduced by so much using this! I can’t believe I drove without sound deadening. This stuff sticks on everything. It’s like tar. So even rust it’ll hold to. Even some greasy surfaces it held! I’m very happy to say this is great stuff.

First time using this and was very pleased. I made sure to degrease the floor and make sure floor was dry. I liked how the sheets were in manageable sizes and this was so easy to cut when I needed to trim off pieces. I didn’t cover every inch of the floor and figured even if there are small gaps it would be better than before. Very easy to use. One box completely covered the floor of my crew cab.

Did all 4 doors of my 2020 Taco and had 7 pieces left over out of a 36 ft box. This stuff works great. I didnt realize how much noise I was listening to until I wasnt. Very easy to apply, and it doesnt have to be perfect, and you can cut patches to fit small or irregular spaces. 3 hints: If youre not using rollers on this after you stick it on the door, youre NOT installing it right; smaller pieces are easier to deal with than large sheets; and keep this in the shade before you apply it, it will get difficult if it gets too warm.

Installed in 2015 Corolla. Applied to doors all the floor rear deck spare tire well, and almost every piece of metal and it’s greatly reduced the rattle from bass now I just have to isolate the small parts around the car. This product is overall 5 stars. Easy to apply take the time to use a heat gun or leave the panels in the rear window during the day and they will peel and stick with ease. The warming up of the panel really helps when you need to rool them down. Do not forget to roll them out there are raised squares that need to be fooled out I forgot that and after it was way better once I rolled them out! My first kilmat sound dampening project and I will be buying some more for a future car or the hood well done Killmat

Ive been aware of products like this, but never personally used any of them... Until now. This in combination with the Noico 315 Red did great things for a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 4wd SLT. I covered the inside of all four of my doors with a layer of Kilmat 80 plus a layer of the Noico 315 insulation covering that. The interior side of all doors were completely covered with Kilmat 80, then finally the door panel got a layer of Kilmat 50 over about 60% of its surface. The roof and back wall got a layer of Kilmat 80 plus a layer of Noico 315. I live in the desert and highs in the 110s are a given during the summer. I know these products have improved the cabin environment substantially. Nothing but the sun blasting bare metal then various trim panels on that metal was stock fare in my truck. Im guessing a 10 to 15 degree decrease over stock. Right after I finished the doors I was waiting at a stop light. A trash truck was backing up about 100 away from me. Everyone knows the piercing backup warning beeper. That tone was muffled quite a bit. I havent done the firewall or floor yet. That can wait until the weather cools. My Focal Flax 6.5 components have always been enjoyable, but they sound much more lively than before. The sound system performance has been improved on every level. Highs, lows, mids...everything is better. Doors have a solid feel when closing now. These products are a system multiplier when used correctly. I believe its important as upgrading the various components in any system. A couple other things, I had zero issues with adhesion. This stuff sticks on a 100 degree day just fine! As far as odor. Yes there is a mild tar smell during installation. It dissipates after a couple days. A small, temporary price to pay, for the overall benefits.

I just applied this to my 3rd Gen 2018 Toyota Tundra Crewmax, which has a big cab you should know and it sounds better and I can see some noise cancelling coming from this. I used 2 packages total and for my all my door interior panels, back seating and back panels and I need to order another set. There was a smell that lingers for a couple of days but it literally disappears after that! Every review made it seem like it was unbearable but truth is that once you get it applied just apply some air freshening deodorizer and itll go away within a few days. It sounds fuller and quieter. Everything on any new car, except a rolls royce I guess, gets a ton of exterior noise level! The adhesion is good as long as you got a reliable roller too by the way. I have yet to do my firewall, driver side and transmission/center console hump so thats next. If Im doing the headliner, Im going to consider doing a insulator and sound Deadened for that instead of the kilmat. And a note for anyone with open and spacious big cab or interior, please consider ordering more than just what they recommend on their sizing. I followed that suggestion and I really recommend ordering a couple more than expected. For Tundras probably a good 4 packages if you are doing all everything. And if youre on a budget so far this is the best way to do it.

Ive done all sorts of upgrades/enhancements to my cars over the years, and installing sound deadener has been the most transformative. Sure, upgrading the stereo/amp/speakers all at once is hugely transformative, but its also expected to make a huge difference. The reason I say sound deadener is more transformative is that it improved things in many unexpected ways, on top of the expected reduction in road & mechanical noise. Background on my vehicle: - Medium sized pickup truck with extended cab - 2006 but only 40,000 miles, so enough miles to develop some rattles - 4 doors (2 normal, 2 smaller) - Smaller doors provide access to extended area for storage or jump seats I took the driver/passenger and jump seats out but only moved the carpeting out of the way vs fully removing. This, and because I didnt remove the center console, meant that I was able to cover the sides of the drivetrain well but not the top . In my truck, most of the mechanical noise comes from the engine, not the drivetrain. What I covered with 72 sq ft of 80 mil mats (i.e. purchased 2 boxes of 36 sq ft): - 4 doors - Rear of extended cab (area facing bed) down to the floor - Ceiling - Driver/passenger footwell up thru firewall - 3-4 wide area running between seats and doors from front to back - 2/3 of area below drivers seat (was too lazy to remove passenger seat again just to apply a single sheet) - 1 sheet of mat leftover I was very thorough. I removed the speakers in the doors and covered the area behind them (I also installed speaker baffles, which improve the sound quality and provide some sound deadening qualities). The rear doors have built-in pocket storage areas so I ended up covering the exterior metal panels of the doors and the some of the interior metal panels. Maybe overkill, but those doors were also the source for a lot of road noise. Expected improvement: significant reduction of road and engine noise. This stuff delivered the goods. My 9 y/o immediately noticed the difference and said something before I could tell her I was done. And this was on city streets, so not even highway. Its that noticeable. Hands-free phone calls, music, talk radio, you name it, all sound much cleaner, crisper and without having to crank it up as much. Unexpected improvements: - Doors close with a more solid feel - Near silence when going over potholes and changes in pavement - Sensation of that I installed a new, more sophisticated suspension because everything feels tighter and smoother All in all, money well and one weekend well spent. Installation tips: - Run a small heater if installing in temps below 60 degrees. The mats will adhere better. - Buy the metal rollers to make sure the mats are completely flat and fully adhered. - Before removing the paper backing, put the mat into the desired location and press hard on the areas that need to be accessible (screw holes, wiring, etc) to create an impression. Then use exacto knife or razor blade to make the opening marked by the impression. Be sure to double check all access points twice so you dont find yourself all ready to put everything back together and you have to find the one you covered. For rubber gasket access points, I cut a path around the edges so you can remove the gasket, but theres still mat on the bulk (center) of the gasket.

I drive a Ford Excursion and the first project was the four doors, second was the barn doors, third was above the headliner, and finally the rear quarter panels and under the cargo area carpet. Each step yielded an improvement and now that its all done I have to say the interior is so much quieter and the truck feels more solid. Of course it is! Another advantage is the truck doesnt get as hot since the Kilmat is a good insulator even though its inside and the sun still beats on the painted steel body. The a/c cools the inside much faster and more effectively. The next thing is to coat the roof with Line-X and there is sure to be a huge temperature improvement. Great product at the right price. If you want to spend the extra for the D brand, think twice before you buy. Calculate the material weight per sq ft and compare!
