KILMAT 80 mil 36 sqft Car Sound Deadening Mat, Butyl Automotive Sound Deadener, Audio Noise Insulation and dampening

I applied this to the roof on the inside of my car. It went on easily and stuck very well with little effort. I liked the pattern in the foil that helps you see how well you have rolled it. This was also priced well - a great value.

I have a 2013 Mercedes C300 4MATIC. The only place on the vehicle where they do not add sound deadening insulation is in the trunk, where the spare tire lies. I decided to give this a shot because it had a 5 star review. Well, it did not let down! There is a noticeable difference in the road noise. I am very OCD about things, and this took care of all my worries. I utilized the 18sqft package, and had one mat left over. I did a full layer covering the entire spare tire well. It took about 2 hours, with the assistance of my wife. I would highly recommend getting the roller to get air bubbles out and to ensure proper adherence. Prior to installation I cleaned all surfaces with rubbing alcohol and ensured that all particles were swept out. I DID NOT utilize gloves, nor would I suggest it because they just get in the way. I took her for a drive down the interstate immediately following install, and all I can say is. WOW! Definitely worth the $50 bucks. Truthfully, it does not look all that bad, either. All of it is hidden under the spare tire carpet covering, so you have to lift that up before you even know that it is there.Thank you KILMAT!!!!

OK, first of all Ive been professionally taking cars apart and putting them back together for the last 7 years as an autobody/refinish tech. You see some cars with little to no sound deadner and some higher end cars with lots of it. Eventually you come to see/hear/feel the difference this stuff actually makes for cars that didnt have it at all or have very much of it. Weve always used the 3M sound deadner pads that are shiny, black, and come 10 large (19x19) squares in a box. Did a 2008 Crown Vic with those, they worked well. Those are much thicker than this stuff and weigh a fair amount more. (NO, Im not complaining about weight) I just always thought that if it was heavier it HAD to be better. Well, Im working at a different larger shop now, and it wouldve been harder/more expensive to get the 3M pads, so I gave these a shot. I had to do a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe for noisy/hollow sounding doors, a couple of which pinged like a drum head when they closed, thanks to the foam/adhesive breaking down on the diagonal support inside the door that the door-skin is bonded to. So, I did a few big strips, (it does not need to be completely covered!!) inside all 4 passenger doors, and rear gate. The stuff cuts good with a sharp box-cutter (watch the foil edges) Also, it sticks very well when pressed or rolled into place. I then added some Noico red foam to help with additional road noise dampening and insulation. I know some people complain about the smell but I never noticed it at all in the Hyundai or my 2018 F-150. This stuff worked great! got rid of all of the pinging/hollow sounding doors and it also gives you a pleasant increase in sound quality/bass response even with stock speakers! The Hyundai doors now sound like closing the doors on a car 3x its price tag with by doing that. They sound nice and solid now when they close. I also did all the doors on my 2018 F-150 with the other half of the box of this and the Noico foam, good results there too!! I will still have a small amount leftover that will go somewhere in the F-150 cab. Good price! Definitely recommend to get rid of hollow/cheap sounding doors or added for those looking for better sound!

I am in the midst of upgrading the audio system in my (new to me) 2009 Acura RDX. Six of the ten factory installed speakers had seen better days. The voice coils were shot in several of them found in the driver and passenger, front and back doors. There is a lot of great information available on you tube videos on steps to take to improve the sound quality of your auto sound system. Of course, replacing the speakers with some quality aftermarket models is an obvious first choice. I learned that another item to consider is Kilmat Car Sound Deadening Mat, available in 80mil and 50mil thickness. The thicker the better is good to consider installing when possible. Cut out paper templates of the various shapes and sizes of the mat for good fitment. Disposable surgical trauma scissors do a good job of cutting the mat to desired size. Be sure to also purchase the 3-pack of installation rollers. It is important to roll over the mat with the rollers to ensure proper adhesion of the sound deadening sheets to the metal door panels. Kilmats waffled aluminum top sheep product design easy shows where the mats have been rolled. The installed mats do add some weight to the vehicle. However, the marked decrease in sound reasonance is a welcome trade-off. Even installing mat to ~25% of the door panel will result in considerable sound deadening.

Used it to cover up the road noise in my 08 tacoma and it worked amazingly! Wasnt expecting that much of an improvement but it makes a world of difference. Not only that but my music is much nicer now!

My 2nd time using this 80 mil kilmat. First was a 2011 Camry (turned a Toyota into a Lexus. LOL). Put a nice system (Focal speakers, etc) in Camry…. Used the Kilmat inside the doors on the doors skins, under the door panels, trunk floor, trunk sides, trunk lid, license plate, behind and under back seat. It did a great job of isolating the interior from outside…. Knock on the door skins and it sounds like a thud instead of a ring; shut the doors with the music cranked and you barely hear it outside the car! And no rattles from the sub hitting. Now I’m doing a 2011 Tundra crewmax with a very high end system…. Focal utopia components, Focal K2 power components rear, focal flax series subs, Kenwood 1037 head,JL vx800i, JL XD600/1v2,etc Used kilmat inside doors, under door panels, behind rear seat, 4 coats of rubberized undercoating spray under cab, then used 1/4” closed cell foam (siless) over the top of all above listed locations (except outside under cab)… WOW! WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The kilmat isolates and dampens while the closed cell foam adds the acoustic deadening I was looking for. The undercoating sprayed under the cab of the truck added the damping and isolation under the truck without having to pull the seats and carpet to install kilmat.. The sound made from just shutting the doors makes it obvious how much better the listening environment is going to be. I have bought (3) boxes of kilmat 80 mil 36 sq ft, (2) boxes of siless closed cell foam, 3 pack of installation “rollers” …. About 300.00 Spend less on your components and do the above process first. You’ll get much more out of your audio equipment! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I mean you get what your paying for. My car already has almost 36 cubic feet of Ballistic deadener. That’s my last piece , and I want to say that one weighs about the same as 5 sheets of the Kilmat. As you can see the kilmat will take up more space. That might good for some, but I’m pushing my Jetta hard for SPL and I been getting some very annoying rattles still. So there’s a few spots I missed with the Ballistic, but I wasn’t trying to spend $200 on more of that so I got this kilmat. I’m sure it’ll get me there right. However I’m 99 percent sure if I originally got kilmat I’d be very unsatisfied . I didn’t want to wait on shipping or pay too much. There’s only the roof and a few odds and ends left to do so I’ll just double it. If your just trying to remove trunk rattle for a 500 to 1200 watts setup this might be ok for some. Maybe the doors . But if your like me, there’s going to be much more you’ll need to do, this aint gonna work

Used these to settle down the vibration on my hood, trunk lid, etc. after I changed my OEM engine mounts to less squishy custom mounts. Highly recommend.

Im never 100% sure how well this stuff works, Ive purchased name brand and off brand and never felt like it was a night and day difference, but then again I rarely do a whole car in one go so its more of an incremental change. Does a great job taking buzzing and rattling out of panels for sure, and seems to somewhat improve bass clarity, but I dont know that it does much for road noise etc.
