Ok...just received my new fan today, just in time before it started to warm up. As customers said, its light weight, puts out a pretty good air flow, even on the lowest setting and quiet for the most part, EXCEPT I KEPT HEARING THIS WHIRLY TICKING SOUND! At first couldnt hear it until I turned off my other fan, which I also purchased a couple years ago from Amazon, a Maxx Air which is quite noisy (even on low), and oh, did I mention that its my second Maxx Air? First one had a rattling noise...a bolt was loose & stripped so back it went, but got another one & is working just fine even if the knob kept flying off, but not worth sending it back just for that, so I fixed it. Yayy! Anywhos needed another fan to help keep the ac air flow moving in the family room, knew I didnt want a Maxx Air, but something quieter. Read reviews on this one, some bad, but mostly really awesome reviews from happy customers, & the price was good, now this one is going back, will try another one, hopefully the second time is a charm. I think its unfortunate that this fan you can not open & take apart, or else Im pretty sure it was just something minor that may have needed tightening. Will provide an update on the second fan. :-)

I bought this fan on the way to my dads house, Spring 2012, because I live in WA state and he lives in GA and he needed me to stay with him a while. I bought it from a local retailer, but its the exact same fan. From day one Ive referred to it as my man-made cyclone - funny as the company now calls the new model the Cyclone. This fan is the only reason Ive been able to exist here in the deep south. I wound up having to stay with my dad - both :) and :( - and this fan has run nearly every day since purchase and is still going strong. I do take it apart every spring and clean it good. It isnt hard and all I do is use the brush attachment of the vacuum cleaner on the motor section. I even wash the fan without the motor with soap and water in the bath tub and semi do the same to the back without getting the motor wet. I think the annual cleaning has kept the bearings from wearing out. This fan is the best air mover Ive ever owned - so, I have to wonder what people are comparing this fan too when they say it barely moves air - an industrial warehouse fan? From 10 feet, on low, it blows enough air to blow a dress hanging from the frame of my closet door to the floor. On high it blows my long hair sideways while sitting at my desk which is about 10 feet away. On low I have to have paperweights on my desk or documents become wallpaper. I hope that paints a clear picture of how much air this sucker (er blower) moves. I also think it blows much cooler than oscillating fans because oscillators heat up and usually are on higher posts that move warmer air. This moves the air from the floor (cooler) upward or outward across the room. My dads friends and our family chuckle at me because everywhere I go around this house and even on the patio I have two things... my beloved four-legged bestie and my man-made cyclone. Im thinking of stocking up because I have never owned a fan that works this well.

I like this fan because it has a variety of setting and it blows air well and can be easily moved up or down. Light weight for a fan its size. The down side it doesnt have a remote or timer. Overall I like it. I even like sleeping with it on.

I really wish it had lasted longer before it burnt out. While it worked it was a great fan. Somewhat difficult to clean, but very strong and kept my room cool until I turned the a/c on in July. It was used approximately 3-4 months of the year and I bought it 3 years ago - so it took about 12 months of use for it to die. For the price it really should have lasted longer.

My 16 turbo fan finally quit on me right in the midst of a SoCal heatwave so it had to be replaced as quickly as possible. We used an inexpensive box fan we had to start with but had to be on high speed in order to tolerate the heat & that means a lot of noise. I decided to give this fan a try & I am so glad I did! We dont have a working a/c right now & with 4 kids in college this year, it will remain unrepaired for a few more years. This fan is for the master br which unfortunately is the hottest room in the house since its upstairs & faces south. The fan arrived completely put together, just needed plugging in & turning on. And what a nice breeze it puts out, even on low speed. It is positioned in front of the window by the bed so it can bring in the cooler night air & just move the air around in the daytime. It runs 24hrs a day & is fairly quiet for a fan its size but it isnt silent by any means. Ive never had a fan that is silent. The temp the 1st few days we had it were in the mid 90s & made it tolerable to be in the room only using the medium speed which is a relief knowing I can go to the high speed if needed next time were over a 100 again. We usually turn it down to low for sleeping as the outside temp drops a lot at night. Its not a/c but so far, its the best fan Ive used since the a/c broke 6yrs ago. Weve had all styles of fans & the last one, a turbo fan was the best until this one. Very glad we tried it & absolutely recommend it.

Its a good working fan. Wish it came with a remote thatd be the cherry on top! Good white noiselevel nothing distracting or obnoxious. The know button is a little loose but you just have to push a little while turning the dial. Id buy again.

Its a great fan. Big. Moves air great. Its our second one. I bought one a year ago and it has held up beautifully. I bought it half for how it works and half as a noise machine to drown out the noise of screaming kids next door. Its not loud, it just has the right sound to counter the pitch of the screaming. I am guessing it is an anomoly that the knob did not hold up. Its a tiny little piece of plastic that engages with the spindle that did not hold up. It spun a little when I first bought it. Had I known it was compromised I would have sent it back. Now I cant return it so I will have to figure out what to do about the knob because it wont catch.

We have been using the Lasko High Velocity Wind Machines for over a decade and we are just now starting to replace them. We have dried ice hockey and lacrosse equipment, kept dorm rooms and bedrooms cool and even use them on our dock to keep flies away from our lounge chairs as we relax. I cant recommend these fans enough and will continue to buy them as long as they are sold.
