This Lego set is perfect for Harry Potter fans of any age. Whether theyre young enough to want to put it together, play with it, and then change it up, or they want to just put it together and display, its going to make them happy. It does have a lot of pieces, but my younger ones (7-8 yrs) can put it together without assistance. I would say younger, preschool-age kids would have some trouble doing it by themselves. The only drawback to this set is it only comes with enough track for the train to sit on. If you want it to actually move, youre going to need more track. I havent tried it, but Im told that the train will run on other tracks in the Lego world. Other than the lack of track, this set is everything I expect from Lego, and with my crew, we have seen a lot of those toys. The price is comparable to most Lego sets, maybe a bit pricier due to the theme, but if youre a Lego fan, you already know about the value.

This is a larger set so be prepared for that and starting earlier in the day so you can complete the same day you start. This is our first train set so this was a wonderful addition to our Lego collection. It has great details and love the hidden features give more interactive play. I’m not a huge fan of downloading an app and getting my kids on a device after spending time off a device to build this. But it does provide some extra enjoyment. I wouldn’t buy just fit AR piece. Easy to follow directions make the creation of the Lego Ghost Train so much fun! The plastic blocks are colorful and sturdy, but once the creation is made, put the train up on a shelf where it can be carefully played with or keep the instructions handy to figure out where everything goes. Legos are a fun way to bring everyone together. We love them.

Directions were explicit-extra parts just incase- all parts are spot on & manufactured precisely. Lots of moving parts and pleased with overall kit

This was a pretty big build with lots of good parts and minifigures. The kids were drooling over the train parts and trestles to add to their current limited supply of train parts. But they were also interested in trying the interactive app. They downloaded it first but were a little disappointed that they needed to build the train before using it. In some ways that seems to be a unapologetic marketing trick to force you to buy the whole line. They tore into the build and had it put together in a couple hours that were interupted by supper. They enjoyed the build and I appreciate the actions on the engine like the pop out wings with side panels that raise up allowing the wings to pop out. The action is a little stiff, but satisfying. the opening hood that becomes a mouth is also interesting, although it all comes out a little childish to me. The whole line seems a little childish, but it is obviously aimed at a younger audience that is addicted to screens and collecting. Once built they tried the app and enjoyed it well enough. It seems to be a little like pokeman go in that you collect the ghosts. It has simple game play and some interesting interaction with the set. It is a little kitschy, and a little fun but not a lasting game. Definitely seems marketing driven. But all in all, it is a fun set, it has some incredible pieces and while the set will probably be cannabalized quickly, it was enjoyed a lot during the build. Nice set.

When this arrived in our home, we were instantly enthused. The box is huge, and the photos on the front compel you to open and build it right away. Ill save the repetition of listing/explaining every single part of whats included - I think its better to just know that this is a set that can be enjoyed by ages young and old. If this set has been purchased for a younger child, with some help from parents or older siblings, it will be a Lego build that theyll love. On the opposite end of the spectrum, its a neat-looking train with features, so older (even adult) Lego fans will love it too. Our family (young and old) worked on this together and enjoyed it. Yours will too. We recommend this product. If you found this review helpful, please click the Helpful button below. Thanks!
