Im gonna keep saying it with these fantastic hidden side sets; the price per brick seems off. Overall very fun set, easily modded with a motor, fits in Lego City or Harry Potter or Western Themes.

So, when I received the LEGO Hidden Side Ghost Train Express 70424 Building Kit I hid in my closet until Christmas. I knew my 7 year old Lego Masterbuilder would love this. The problem with Hidden Side is that it is definitely for kids older than 8. This build requires all of my time because I had to supervise the build. This is frustrating for my son who doesnt really like to follow the instructions, but since this has an App element to it, I thought it would be integral to follow the directions. Thus, this was not a pleasurable experience for both of us. However, once the build was complete I was ready to download the App. But, wait. The App only works on certain devices and operating systems, so if you have an older smartphone like myself and you cant upgrade from iOS 10, then you are not going to be able to use Hidden Side as intended. The frustrating part is not the just fact we did all of that building and cant use the App, its the fact no where on the box, does it say that! I had no clue I wouldnt be able to download the App. So, now I have a very upset little kid who cant play with the Legos a the box says he can. Usually, I love Legos, and they keep coming out with new and interesting things, but the lack of information with this product isnt really like them. It should be clearly labeled, which iOS or Android systems are compatible. This way people dont waste their time and little kids arent disappointed in a toy that doesnt work to its fullest potential.

Easy to follow directions make the creation of the Lego Ghost Train so much fun! The plastic blocks are colorful and sturdy, but once the creation is made, put the train up on a shelf where it can be carefully played with or keep the instructions handy to figure out where everything goes. Legos are a fun way to bring everyone together. We love them.

When this arrived in our home, we were instantly enthused. The box is huge, and the photos on the front compel you to open and build it right away. Ill save the repetition of listing/explaining every single part of whats included - I think its better to just know that this is a set that can be enjoyed by ages young and old. If this set has been purchased for a younger child, with some help from parents or older siblings, it will be a Lego build that theyll love. On the opposite end of the spectrum, its a neat-looking train with features, so older (even adult) Lego fans will love it too. Our family (young and old) worked on this together and enjoyed it. This is a fun, complex Lego build, especially for boys in the 8-11 range. Its not super easy, the train itself is detailed and cool looking, and it would make a great Halloween gift. (Yeah, each of our kids gets a non-candy Halloween gift from us; usually something with a spooky-ish theme.) Even my 12-year-old enjoyed building it, though it was definitely more in my 8-year-olds wheelhouse. The interactive element is ... less great. Its basically a series of videos that look like gaming cut scenes that, arent poorly done but also have very little to do with the build itself. My kids found taking a picture of the box, worked just as well as taking a picture of the build, which sort of defeats the purpose. There are also mini games that are mildly entertaining, but not something I can see having long term play potential.

All my grandchildren have kindle fire tablets. I bought this for one of them. Then I went to install the app. Nope! The app is not in the kindle app store. In fact, according to the Lego web site it has only tested the app on one device (the ASUS Rog Phone (8.1.0 Oreo) The box heavily advertises the app with the playset. Surely any child would be disappointed with not being able to use the toy as it is advertised. I will be returning the lego set. I am very disappointed.

I love skill building toys that require hands on concentration and patience. Also, the child feels in control and that is important for a youngsters confidence building in my opinion. This set has great craftsmanship and wonderful colors. You can download the app on your smartphone for more interactive play and that is a blast for adults or children. It makes it more realistic and exciting. Capture the animated ghosts on your phone! Figures are pretty sturdy and tracks are easy to put together. The technology part of this set will help inspire the imagination and keep the game interesting for years. It’s not a set they’ll grow bored with.
