> 3 dayIm gonna keep saying it with these fantastic hidden side sets; the price per brick seems off. Overall very fun set, easily modded with a motor, fits in Lego City or Harry Potter or Western Themes.

> 3 dayThe Lego Newbury Haunted High School is a fun Build but it is challenging. Not for the young kids, 8+ or older. Love the moveable parts and how it goes along with the other Hidden Side Sets like the bus. These are retired now.

> 3 dayThe Lego Hidden Side Ghost Train Express 70424 Building Kit is impressive itself, and also has the Interactive Augmented Reality Playset. The kit is 698 Pieces, and had a couple tricky spots for a 7-year-old, but otherwise manageable. I love that LEGO is adding little surprise moving parts, like a mouth and wings to the train. The app is free, and it was a bit of a challenge at first, but then we got the hang of it, and love it. A fantastic way to add even more fun to a set that is terrific on its own!

> 3 dayEasy to follow directions make the creation of the Lego Ghost Train so much fun! The plastic blocks are colorful and sturdy, but once the creation is made, put the train up on a shelf where it can be carefully played with or keep the instructions handy to figure out where everything goes. Legos are a fun way to bring everyone together. We love them.

> 3 dayLego has built a legacy with the little plastic blocks, which by now come in many different colors and shapes. Sets like this one are Legos attempt to capture the audience beyond the build process. That also means that if you plan on this toy to pull the kids from the omnipresent (smart) screens, it wont do that as the main game idea is based on augmenting the physical toy with virtual gameplay. Halloween is (almost) around the corner and a ghost train the perfect theme for the season. My test subjects, also known as kids, are 6 and 9 years old and they do have ipads at their disposal. With Halloween 2 months away, perfect setting and timing for us. Assembly is rated to fit an 8-year-old. Of course, that also implies some Lego experience to decode the (excellent) build instructions, so you mileage (age) may vary but it most likely turns into an activity thats supported by an older sibling or a parent. In fact, i would highly recommend it as there are a lot of parts and frustration can keep little ones from enjoying this set. (Not all blocks are easily identifiable without a bit of interpretation.) The set has a short section of rails included and obviously wont make a closed track to play like a traditional train set. But this is a Lego, so the journey is half the fun (of building the train and station). Were currently still in the building process (which I want to help but not take over). However, with, portions complete I decided to cheat a bit and downloaded the Hidden Side app on my phone (which they dont know about yet). It seems like they will have a lot of fun exploring the ghost world of the train, but for now we have plenty time to assembly the almost 700 pieces. (You may want to dedicate a spot since its not built over night.)

> 3 dayWe are train and LEGO fans so this Ghost Train Express building set is a good fit. In addition to the basic components these Hidden Side sets include an optional augmented reality game app although an android or iOS tablet or smartphone is required to utilize that feature. After loading the app, point the device at the completed structure and move it around for an interactive experience. The Hidden Side app includes games, mysteries and ghost hunting/capturing. Future updates are mentioned which should help maintain interest. Check device compatibility on the website—checkdevice. And, it is probably obvious but to avoid confusion, the train is not motorized and use of the app is optional. This haunted train and station set is large, 5 inches wide, 5 inches tall and 24 inches long, and at 698 pieces it is reasonably challenging. The train tracks are the uniform size used in other LEGO building sets so they can be incorporated into other projects. Included are 5 minifigures and there are movable features on the train, like the pop-out ghost wings, a cannon to help eradicate the ghosts, etc. As always, the pieces fit together well which is not the case with some other brands. The illustrated instruction guide provides solid guidance and the finished project is visually impressive. The set is designed for ages 8 and above so younger builders may need older sibling or adult assistance during construction. Build time will vary based on experience and whether done over a couple of days or in a single sitting. Suitably creepy without being frightening. Excellent.

> 3 dayThis particular set is challenging, unique and different in that it is interactive with an app which is good and bad. The great thing about Legos is it gets the kids away from electronics, now they mesh the two. It is unique and the grandkids love it but not sure about the app. Its inevitable I guess.
