> 3 daySure the idea is slick. I have watched 3 people try to figure out how to use the Litter Genie refill and watch them have no clue. After head and butt scratching they can make it work. Once you know the tricks...hey it is pretty easy. Next on the agenda is that I dont know what the marketing department was smoking when they came up with cartridge lasts up to two months for one cat. Boy that is some creative marketing. My wife and I are still arguing about it but we *think* we got 5 refills out of the refill cartridge. Our one big girl kitty can do some major damage on that in about 3 weeks. OK so we get less than HALF the advertised amount. Side note and not included in the star rating is the fact that the litter genie we purchased will fall apart when you pick it up. There is a snap latch toward the bottom that is supposed to latch. Good luck with that. It doesnt engage with the slot at all. We checked the local store and all theirs were just like that. I have some experience with molded parts in consumer electronics and can honestly say these parts have problems and the company just got shipped them out the door. Quality control I think not. Hooray for us! So all in all while the whole shebang is a great idea the base is poorly executed and the greed glands were on high when they priced the refill cartridges. These are plastic sleeves folks not even zip lock bags. The point is you are paying an enormous amount for a sleeve to carry turds! I figure about $1.25 per time you empty the base. Yee haw! I will pursue another solution but this will have to do for now. Ironically I sent my wife out to get the competitors model and this is the one she brought home. Our neighbors have another brand and it works MUCH better. Dont know about lifespan of the refills or the price so keep that in mind. Also keep in mind that you get to tie a knot in the bottom of the bag to start using and a knot in the top of the bag to dispose. If you are a micro knot ninja you may also get more uses per refill. If you are normal maybe not so many. If the base were well made and the bags lasted about twice as long for the money I would have been happy.

> 3 dayI bought a Pet Genie a few years ago after a friend raved about her Litter Genie. I loved it! I live in an apartment with 3+ dogs (I am also a dog trainer/sitter), and the dumpster is a good hike away, making it far easier to toss a bag of dog poo into a waste bin. And I have an elderly dog who uses pee pads. The genie contains all of the smell, and has seriously simplified my life. Then, suddenly the refills for the Pet Genie were getting harder and harder to find! I purchased a the Dooli adapter to use their bags, but just wasnt happy with it, and even tried garbage bags. After much deliberation I ordered a Litter Genie refill, and I am SO happy to find that it fits! Its the one that consistently contains the smell and is the easiest to dispose of.

Greater than one weekThey claim these refills last up to two weeks for a single cat, but that is really stretching the truth. Count on about a week of normal litterbox use. For these to last 2 weeks, you would have to starve your cat of food and water and tie the bags as close as possible on both ends so that not a single inch is wasted. 2 weeks, sure, maybe for a kitten, but certainly not a full grown cat. 3 stars because its a good product, but minus 2 stars for the deceptive advertising.

> 3 dayI like my litter genie. I live in a condo so its nice to have a place thats not my trash for this.. disposal. It doesnt smell, its easy to use and easy to clean. My only complaint is that theres is no marking whatsoever to let you know youre reaching the end of the bag/liner. How has this not been thought of or addressed? Its annoying when I cut off the bag and then pull more down to re-tie and it just ends. Litter Genie... please fix this

Life With Kait
Greater than one weekThese last surprisingly longer than I had imagined! I pull mine through the top of my Litter Genie to tie off the bags and then push it back through the center - making the knot I tie on the inside of the bags rather than the outside. Let me just say that I have had my lazy moments where I let the bag get far too full and far heavier than one poop-scooper-person ever should. Living in an apartment it was quite a walk down the floors and out to the nearest dumpster bin. That being said, I have never had a single bag tear, rip, or come open.. and trust me, if youve been around kitty droppings this is definitely a must. Durability and quality are great, and the pack itself has lasted me much longer than I anticipated. So happy with this purchase.

> 3 dayThis is definitely a life savior. I have a 1 bedroom apartment and 2 cats. I would have to take the trash everyday and sometimes 2 times per day. With the Litter Genie I can keep my regular trash schedule without having to worry of having a smelly apartment. I definitely recommend this. Something I learned the hard ways is that when the bag is almost about to be done it has a black mark. I failed to change it and the waste spilled over inside the container but the smell was pretty bad.

> 3 dayWorks well at first. The inner trap door (for lack of a better word) gets clogged pretty easily after a few months, making it difficult to get the waste to drop down into the bag without jiggling the whole unit for a few seconds and opening and closing the door, and I do use clumping litter. I wipe down the top (accessible) areas frequently, too, so not quite sure what the issue is. For the price its still worth the purchase.

> 3 dayI have to say, I like my Litter Genie. I suppose I could just use old grocery bags, but I find this much more convenient. For one thing, you dont have to worry about whether your reused bag has holes in it as you dump the clumps into it. For another, I don t have to run it out to the outside trash can every time I scoop the litter boxes. I have two cats and two Genies (one for each litter box - yes, Im lazy), and I probably only fill a Genie about every 2-3 weeks (my cats are indoor-outdoor, so they dont use the boxes as much as an indoor-only cat would). So one cartridge of bags probably lasts me at least a couple months. And while youre working on filling it up, it does a very good job of containing the smell. (My odor-fighting litter probably helps too.) Weve been told by visitors that we dont have a cat box smell in our house, and thats something when youve got your litter boxes out in full public view!
