Logitech G300s Optical Ambidextrous Gaming Mouse – 9 Programmable Buttons, Onboard Memory

> 3 dayI purchased the Logitech G300s optical gaming mouse about a month ago. I bought it because my previous non-gaming mouse had succumbed to the beating of using it for gaming every day for half a year. In the short time I’ve had the mouse I can’t speak entirely for its durability, but from what I’ve done with it so far it seems to be fairly well made. It has an interesting feature that was different than what I was used to-the secondary buttons are on the top instead of the side. At first it took some getting used to, but it’s much easier to use when the buttons are right at your fingertips already and you don’t have to move your fingers to use them. The mouse has a lot of different programs and settings to cater it to exactly what you want for it. It has three internally stored custom settings you can use for each different game. The lights on the side of the mouse will light up a specific color for each setting you use. For example, if I prefer to use a faster mouse speed for one game and a slower speed for another, I can have stored programs that you select that will alter the settings depending on what game you’re in. I find this feature great since I play multiple games. The mouse is very responsive, and the settings on the speed go very far in both directions. You can have the DPI set very high or very low. I have noticed though that sometimes the DPI will randomly change The shape of the mouse is great for someone who uses a claw style grip on the mouse(using fingertips instead of lying fingers down flat on the mouse) because it is so small. If you were someone who uses a palm style grip I would not recommend this mouse. It does draw a lot of power, so using it on a laptop while not plugged in will drain your battery fairly fast. Other than these few problems, I still give it four stars.

> 3 dayI first purchased this mouse in April of 2017 and I loved it. At the time it was the best mouse that Ive ever owned. The software was easy to download and install which allowed me to customize the lighting, adjust the DPI settings, and bind keys to the buttons. Once I had my settings in place I stored them onboard the mouse and never used the software again. Three and a half years later I have a new computer and my mouse if finally starting to wear out. (The mouse itself is a wonderful product) Naturally I ordered another one. When it arrived and I went to the Logitech website to download the new software-which would allow me to adjust the DPI, change the color scheme, and rebind the keys- the G hub software would not detect the Logitech product. I made sure that the drivers were up to date through windows and through the software folder (which at one point actually contained drivers according to older videos of how to fix this problem on Youtube) The drivers were not the problem. Ive gone through numerous trouble shooting tips and under no circumstances will the G hub software detect the mouse, nor is there any way to get drivers through the Logitech site. The software was updated to the latest version and still nothing works. Its sad. I love this mouse, its the only one Ive ever used that was comfortable for my small hands and had just enough keys for me to do the things that I need to do in games, and its no longer a viable option for me because the software that supports it is so bloated and useless. EDIT: I finally got the right software to work. The Logitech Gaming Software is the only software in the software maze on the Logitech site that will actually work with this mouse. Not only that, but the current version-which states that it is compatible with Windows 10-will give you a message saying otherwise when you try to install it. So not only do you have to navigate the Logitech maze of software packages *(Many of them claiming to work with their mouse products, while in fact not working) you will also have to use an older version of the Logitech gaming software to actually be able to customize your mouse functions.

> 3 dayA pretty impressive mouse with only a few drawbacks that honestly are opinionated based on handsize or how you like your mouse to be in terms of size and button locations. Pros : + Clicks feel solid, not cheap. + The side buttons on top of the regular left and right clicks are responsive and surprisingly DONT get in the way of normal use. + Features software you download from Logitechs website that allows you to create 3 sets of DPI settings, each its own represented color (I have my main set on red, as my entire setup revolves around a Red/Black color scheme) which then allow 5 separate settings within a set, which is easily customized from the software. + In addition from the above comment, you can easily change between the settings within your current DPI scheme, or change over to a different scheme with the buttons below the mousewheel. Very useful if you need a sudden controlled DPI change, or saving a scheme for FPS use then a scheme for RTS, ect. + This can be a pro or con, but the mousewheel has a slight clicking feel to it when scrolling which is great, yet its solid rubbery coating might be a turnoff for some people. + Im a hybrid Claw/Palm holder, and this feels comfortable to use for both styles. Cons : - Its a smaller mouse. I have slightly larger hands with long fingers and this mouse felt just a tad bit too small for me at first, but ive gotten use to it. Yet this might not be much of an issue for Claw style grips. - The wire is long enough to manage a normal under-the-desk setup of a tower, yet the wiring seems thin and delicate. Id advise slight caution when handling when putting it away or moving it around. - Pro or Con depending on your taste for the feel or texture of a mousewheel, as its about the same you would get from a standard Dell mouse or something of the sort you find in a computer lab or library. This does not take away from the overall use of the mousewheel, it works great. - The DPI setting software was a little confusing at first, i recommend playing around with the settings to understand how it works.

> 3 dayGoing along with the many positive reviews about the G300ss advantages, Ill agree it is a good buy for a bit over $20. It functions as it should and seems to be built well. Id forgotten I had this mouse until recently when I discovered it in a junk box of computer stuff. What--looks unused and its a Logitech . . . ? So I hooked it up and pretty soon I remembered why I tossed it in storage. The left and right sides of the G300s mirror each other, so there are twin buttons on either top front corner; this means that my middle finger rests not only on the right click button but also against one of those top corner buttons. Unintended clicks occurred immediately. So I had to download and install Logitechs less-than-stellar software in order to turn off the problematic buttons. The thing is, although Im a righty, I cant imagine a lefty with similarly sized hands would be able to avoid the opposite version of this problem. Like many mouse manufacturers, Logitech is prone to sticking extra buttons anywhere as a misguided marketing ploy. In conclusion: ambidextrous, great; button layout, atrocious.

Greater than one weekWhen I bought the mouse, the shape looked normal-ish, and I though it was priced reasonably. But... I miss my non-ambidextrous mouse. My other mouse is just a bit wider at the bottom right and the whole palm is contoured to fit a tad better. That little detail matters for comfort more than I expected. The extra width on my old mouse, when I wrap my around it, makes a big difference; there is a natural spot for the ring finger and pinky to lie. This mouse, just feels a little awkward, without that spot, I feel like Im dragging my pinky on my desk, almost always. Also, I bought this mouse thinking I could just change the LEDs to red, and match my keyboard, not realizing the potency of the blue bottom. Overall, the mouse doesnt really look good in any other LED color than the default cyan.

Greater than one weekI have been using this mouse for years and have had to replace it more than I would have liked. I always have a backup, because with no warning, it will simply conk out. I am NOT left handed, or even ambidextrous, and really cant do much except push the mouse buttons and scroll with my left hand. So the buttons being on top is brilliant when gaming. I just happen to have gotten into the habit from day one of using my left hand for my mouse, so my right hand was free to take notes or to write things down. This is the only mouse for me, and I hope I can always find one when I need it!

> 3 dayConfig is similar to other far more expensive Logitec gaming mice that Ive owned. Its light but probably has weights at bottom so very solid / hefty feel low center of gravity The price went up after I bought when I thought about buying a couple more as gift. It is very ergonomic and works with left hands. button action very positive. ALT button outside normal finger position but close. Chip inside does comparable resolution and Sampling rate to 15 yo top end laser mice. Sliding surface is thick, slippery. Cord is slippery so drag isnt an issue. The weak points, furthest ring finger is a reach for me in my fav postion, button config app does Everything so Id rather have complex setup with easy to swap configs for desktop painting/cad apps.

> 3 dayThis is my second one. Originally was given one as a gift 6 years ago and it lasted until i tripped over the cord and broke it. Loved it so much i got another one. Works great and isnt ridiculously priced like most gaming mouses.
