18-04-2025Replaced old plastic mailbox. Very strong and sturdy like a tank! Very good quality and seems like it will last til the world ends! Cons: when you open the mailbox to pick up, they are usually dangling from top part. Also when you send off mails you have to put it between this holding pin inside of top opening and letters easily get creases.

Always on a Budget
Greater than one weekWe just received our black Mail Boss 7506 mailbox today and promptly installed it. So far it seems pretty sturdy and well-made. This mailbox is quite a bit heavier than our old standard black, arched-top mailbox that shares space with three neighbors mailboxes in a two across/two down pattern on a 4 wooden post that was installed curbside when our neighborhood was built years ago. We added some additional blocks of wood as support under the T that our box is attached to on the mailbox post (something that other neighbors did not do on their 4 mailbox stand and now their stand is lopsided). The flag is also quite long. We needed to trim ours because our mailbox is under another mailbox so there is no space to use the full flag. We had to cut off over half of it. But it still extends enough for the mail carrier to see, if we ever use it (we dont think its a very good idea to advertise that youve got mail going out, especially since the outgoing mail just clips into the mail slot for anyone to grab). Please note (& this is not reflected in my rating of the product since its not the fault of the manufacturer and merely an FYI for Amazon buyers): I do NOT recommend that you get this via Amazon Warehouse Deals unless you dont mind undisclosed damage. Ive been a regular customer of Amazon.com since 1997 and in the past couple of years, I keep getting suckered into saving $ with Amazon Warehouse Deals...time and time again the item description does not match what you receive...there is undisclosed damage and/or missing components. I know, when will I learn?! (due to going through a mass lay-off where I work [now making 40% less than I used to], and completing my degree [student loans], I try to save $ where ever I can. I have better luck going with refurbished through Amazon vendors than going through Amazon Warehouse Deals. Since this is a mailbox that will be exposed to the elements and my husband could repair the mailbox, I decided not to send it back, but I thought I needed to mention it since putting a seller review on Amazon Warehouse Deals is a waste of time. The mailbox I ordered was described as being in very good condition with NO cosmetic damage; only the packaging was to have some damage (I saved a screen print when I ordered it). The mailbox that arrived was the complete opposite! The packaging was in relatively good condition; not so for the mailbox! There was a big dent in the top right side front & corner (the length of about 5 in front of the flag) which prohibited the mail slot from opening without scraping. There was black paint chipped off where it was dented and the mailbox had clearly been installed somewhere and removed (the bottom was all scratched up and the clear plastic liner for inside had screw holes where it had been installed and was very dirty). It looked like someone may have dropped it before returning it or dropped it at the Amazon Warehouse & put it back in the box(?) There were also NO screws of any kind and the keys were individually loose in the box. Were actually surprised all three keys were there at all. My husband used to work in a family owned body & fender business so he went to work getting out the dent and sprayed Rustoleum black paint where the powder-coated paint had chipped off. Its debatable whether the 15% savings was worth all the damage/repairs/missing parts. Were saying No...not worth it. If this wasnt going to be outside and exposed to the elements, it would have gone back.

21-04-2025My former “secure” mailbox was pried open by a postal thief. Upon closer inspection after taking it down, I realized that some of the door frame components inside the box were made of plastic! The hinges (riveted to the plastic), ripped out when it was pried. This mailbox, by comparison, appears to be VERY SECURE and I am quite pleased with it’s heavy duty construction and engineering. Time will tell if it stands up to burglary attempts, but I’m hopeful that the gauge of metal, superior locking mechanism and minimal points of entry to insert a pry bar will render it secure. Installation was easy with templates and good directions. At this point in time, I highly recommend it.

> 3 dayI installed three of these for ourselves and neighbors. Comes with 4 lag bolts and drill bit. There are 8 different holes on the bottom of the box. You bolt from the inside, through the holes, into your base. That way, the bolt are not accessible unless you have access inside the box. I used 2 additional lag bolts on all these since we had the room to do so. There is a clear plastic panel that fits inside at the bottom of the box that A) covers the lag bolt heads and B) keeps mail up off the bottom in the event of any moisture gathering in the bottom. Details says can hold up to days of mail, but Id say 3 tops if you get moderate mail. If you get any small packages, fewer. Ensure you allow space for the front locking door to open fully. The mail slot is held shut by a small but strong magnet. Be sure to set the box level or tipping back slightly to better enable the slot door to stay in closed position. Looks and feels sturdy.

> 3 dayThis works for what we needed. Erratic mail delivery schedules and our schedules necessated getting a locking mail box. We have had some prowling in our vicinity. Wanted to make sure our mail is secure until we collect it.

20-04-2025I needed a locking mailbox outside my gate so nail carrier need not deal with my dog. I chose this box to mount on a preexisting 4x4 post. There are 4 holes in the bottom of the box for lag screws to secure the box onto a wooden PTL post. It would have been helpful I suppose if there was a paper template included in order to guide the drilling. Also, included drill bit was badly bent and unusable, and one of the lag screws had a misshapen head requiring me to use a slightly larger driver.
